Job Summary
Baseball Prospectus, an industry leader in baseball analytics and writing since 1996, is seeking a remote, part-time (~10 hours/week) contractor to contribute to a re-platforming project. This is a remote role. Build cool things and work with some of the best baseball researchers around.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in development, testing and assessment of web applications targeted to baseball information consumers:
- Fantasy baseball tools
- Team- and player-centric pages
- Sortable and advanced filterable statistics summary pages
- Work closely with product owners to establish implementation plans and priorities for smaller, internal projects
- Help test and provide feedback for larger, external projects
Skills desired
Minimum Skills:
- Proficiency in Python
- Familiarity with Django, or similar MVC-styled web application frameworks
- Familiarity with Vue, React or similar front-end frameworks
- Test-driven development experience
- Ability to use Git
Desired Skills:
- Proficiency in Django, Vue or other Javascript framework
- Familiarity with Postgres and WordPress development
- Experience in API development
- Strong baseball knowledge, including grasp of advanced metrics
- Sports data modeling and scraping experience

- Help develop and maintain data ingest and validation processes
- Infrastructural support for new projects, including application development and modernization

- Proficiency coding in a scripting language
- Proficiency writing SQL queries
- Familiarity with a modern version control system

- Oversight of projects and status reporting to stakeholders

Skills desired
Minimum Skills:
- 3-5 years of experience in Project Management
- Familiarity with Atlassian tools (Bitbucket, Trello)

Fantasy Staff Writer

Job Summary
Baseball Prospectus, an industry leader in baseball analytics and writing since 1996, is seeking a remote, part-time (~10 hours/week) writer to contribute to the BP Fantasy team.
Key Responsibilities
- Write approximately six full-length articles per month
- Help answer questions that come in via the Bat Signal, our fantasy answering service
- Contribute to fantasy analysis provided as part of our Transaction Analysis series
Skills desired
Minimum Skills:
- Knowledge of all different fantasy formats (roto, H2H, points, dynasty, etc)
- Experience working on rankings and valuations
- Strong writing skills, and ability to mix analysis with personality
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Familiarity with advanced baseball statistics
Desired Skills:
- 2-5 years of fantasy baseball writing experience
- 5-10 years of experience playing fantasy baseball in various formats
- Strong familiarity with Baseball Prospectus’ proprietary stats
