If Helton is not good enough, what would his stats had to have been in order to clear the bar?
I think his peak was good enough, so I'd be more pro-Helton if he'd had one or two more productive post-peak seasons/if his back problems hadn't sapped him of his power. He hasn't had a .200 ISO or a .500 SLG since 2005.
It looks like Don Mattingly's career with modern medicine and an inflated run context. Or at least what I imagine Mattingly's career would have been.
