Five and Dive

Welcome to Five and Dive, a twice-weekly podcast from Baseball Prospectus. We’re named Five and Dive in honor of all the pitchers out there who can’t or won’t go beyond five innings. We respect their laziness or lack of ability. Each episode we will cover five topics of interest that come from either recent events, articles we’ve written, articles we’ve thought about writing but thought “too much research,” and whatever else is on our minds. Craig Goldstein, Editor-in-Chief of Baseball Prospectus hosts alongside editor and author Patrick Dubuque.

Episode 121: 2021 AL West Preview

March 25th, 2021

In Episode 121, Bradford and Jeffrey have not been enjoying the nice weather and instead tackle the five teams in the AL West as we continue our 2021 MLB preview.

1. In a slight upset Bradford might prefer the pro wrestling heel Astros more than Jeffrey. Neither of us think they are winning 90 games though.

2. The Angels might actually have managed a “stars and average players” roster this year, which would be an improvement.

3. The Athletics have really nice uniforms and you can’t take that away from them.

4. The Mariners might be good at some point this year after all relevant service time signposts have been passed.

5. The Rangers will not be good at any point, but do have good food options at the park.
