  • Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg yielded two runs in seven innings.
  • Diamondbacks All-Star SP Patrick Corbin fell to 1-5 in his final seven starts after allowing five runs in five innings.
  • Nationals OF Jayson Werth went 2-for-2 with a three-run homer and two walks.

- 4 at 2 - Mets (73-87)
(72-88) Phillies - 0 at 1 - Braves (95-65)
  • Braves RP Craig Kimbrel notched his 50th save of the season, retiring all three hitters he faced to preserve a one-run advantage.
  • Braves 3B Chris Johnson launched a solo homer in the eighth inning, breaking a scoreless tie.
  • Braves SP Kris Medlen twirled eight scoreless innings, scattering just two singles and a pair of walks along the way.
  • Phillies OF Cesar Hernandez went 1-for-4 in a losing effort.
  • Phillies SP Cliff Lee impressively racked up 13 strikeouts, but was handed a tough-luck loss after surrendering just one run on three hits over eight masterful innings.

  • Cardinals SP Lance Lynn spun six scoreless frames helping to clinch the National League Central.
  • Cubs SP Travis Wood was pulled after allowing three runs over one inning.
  • Cardinals C Yadier Molina went 2-for-3 with three RBI and a run scored.
  • Cubs SS Starlin Castro went 3-for-4 with a double.

  • Dodgers SP Clayton Kershaw struck out eight in six innings and combined with three relievers on a shutout.
  • Rockies SP Collin McHugh was pounded for eight runs in four innings.

  • Giants SP Ryan Vogelsong allowed two runs over six innings.

  • Indians OF Drew Stubbs filled up the box score, going 2-for-4 with a two-run homer, a walk, a stolen base, and three runs scored.
  • Twins SP Pedro Hernandez was hammered for six runs over 1 2/3 innings in a loss.
  • Indians SP Corey Kluber gave up six runs over 5 1/3 innings.
  • Twins 3B Trevor Plouffe went 3-for-3 with an RBI single, a walk, and a run scored.

- 3 at 6 - Blue Jays (73-87)
  • Blue Jays 3B Brett Lawrie had a productive night at the plate, going 1-for-3 with a run scored, RBI and stolen base.
  • Blue Jays SP R.A. Dickey earned his 14th victory of the season, allowing just two runs on five hits over 7 1/3 innings.
  • Rays 2B Ben Zobrist went 3-for-3 with a homer and a walk in a losing effort.
  • Rays SP Jeremy Hellickson struggled, surrendering six runs (three earned) on six hits and two walks over 4 2/3 innings.

  • Rangers OF Alex Rios drove in two runs, scored two runs, and stole two bases.
  • Rangers SP Alexi Ogando gave up three runs over 5 1/3 innings in a no-decision.

  • Angels OF Josh Hamilton had a two-run single.

  • Royals SP James Shields spun seven innings of one-run ball and struck out 10 batters.

  • Red Sox SP Clay Buchholz gave up three runs over seven innings.
  • Orioles SP Scott Feldman was hammered for a season-high eight runs over 2 1/3 innings.
  • Red Sox DH David Ortiz finished 2-for-5 with a three-run homer and two runs scored.
  • Red Sox OF Jonny Gomes went 3-for-4 with a solo homer, a walk, and three runs scored.
  • Orioles 1B Chris Davis launched his 53rd home run of the season.

  • Yankees 3B David Adams delivered a two-run double in the fourth inning.

  • 1B Brett Wallace roped a two-run double in the seventh inning, accounting for all of the Astros offense.
  • Astros SP Brett Oberholtzer pitched well in a losing effort, allowing two runs on five hits over 5 1/3 innings.

  • Athletics SP Bartolo Colon pitched six innings of two-run ball.
  • Mariners SP Felix Hernandez dropped a decision after allowing three runs in six innings.

  • Marlins OF Giancarlo Stanton's three-run double in the third inning proved to be the difference.
  • Marlins SP Tom Koehler pitched decently, allowing two runs on five hits over his 5 1/3 innings of work.
  • Tigers SS Jhonny Peralta returned to the lineup, and went 1-for-4 with an RBI double.
  • Tigers RP Jose Alvarez struggled in a spot start, surrendering three runs on two hits in just 2 2/3 innings.
Player Transactions:

National League:
  • Phillies activated OF Casper Wells from the 15-day disabled list.
American League:
  • Tigers activated SS Jhonny Peralta from the restricted list.
Injury Updates:

National League:

  • Marlins C Jeff Mathis is done for the season after an MRI has revealed a fractured right thumb.
  • Braves C Brian McCann (groin) is expected to rest this weekend.
  • Dodgers OF Yasiel Puig was removed from Friday's game against the Rockies in the fifth inning after fouling a pitch off his left foot.
  • Brewers OF Khris Davis was removed from Friday's game in the eighth inning due to a hamstring injury.
  • Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez (finger) could return for an at-bat or two before the end of the regular season to test his injured finger and help decide if he needs to undergo surgery.
  • Diamondbacks SP Daniel Hudson (elbow) is progressing well in his recovery from a second Tommy John surgery, noting that he has regained his full range of motion.
  • Rockies C Wilin Rosario could miss the final two games of the 2013 season as he continues to deal with a sore calf.
  • Dodgers OF Andre Ethier (ankle) hit in a simulated game in Arizona on Friday.
  • The Brewers have exercised their right to have SS Jean Segura (hamstring) not play Winter ball in the Dominican Republic this offseason.
  • Rockies SP Tyler Chatwood is currently dealing with minor elbow stiffness, though it's not expected to be a major issue.
  • SP Matt Harvey (elbow) will be eligible to pitch in the Arizona Fall League, should the Mets decide to pursue that option.
  • Reds manager Dusty Baker indicated that SP Tony Cingrani (back) might not pitch again this season.
  • Cardinals general manger John Mozeliak said Friday that 1B Allen Craig (foot) is "very doubtful" to be available for the NLDS.

American League:

  • Royals SP Danny Duffy (forearm) said he doesn't feel "any discomfort whatsoever," but he's unlikely to be activated from the disabled list for the final weekend.
  • Indians OF Ryan Raburn (Achilles) admitted Thursday that he's still not 100 percent.
  • Indians manager Terry Francona said the team will "see how aggressive we can get" with OF Michael Bourn (wrist) during workouts Friday.
  • Athletics OF Yoenis Cespedes was removed from Friday's game against the Mariners due to soreness in his right shoulder.
  • Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez (calf) indicated Friday that he does he is still dealing with soreness in his calf and doesn't expect to play over the final two games of the season.
  • Twins C Josmil Pinto is considered day-to-day with a bruised right hand after X-rays came back negative on Friday.
  • Athletocs C John Jaso (concussion) had four plate appearances during an instructional league game on Thursday, recording a hit and a walk.
  • Athletics 1B Nate Freiman (abdomen) will take batting practice before Friday's game against the Mariners, and if all goes well he'll be available off the bench.
  • OF Michael Bourn (wrist) will take some swings before Friday's game, and could be cleared to return to the Indians lineup on Saturday.
