  • Padres 2B Logan Forsythe has been limited lately as he deals with plantar fasciitis in his right foot.
  • Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez will hit off a tee on Sunday in hopes of batting again before season's end.
  • Padres C Yasmani Grandal is expecting to be ready by spring training after recently undergoing reconstructive ACL surgery.
  • Cardinals GM John Mozeliak said 1B Allen Craig "probably" won't be back before the end of the regular season.
  • Cardinals RP Edward Mujica acknowledged late Friday night that he is experiencing overall fatigue.
  • Pirates RP Jason Grilli will serve as the Pirates' closer Saturday.
  • Reds OF Shin-Soo Choo is expected to miss a game or two with a jammed left thumb.
  • Giants 3B Joaquin Arias (hamstring) is likely to miss a few games after leaving Friday's game with a hamstring injury.
  • Giants RP Chad Gaudin (carpal tunnel syndrome) is unlikely to return to the Giants this season.
  • Padres SP Casey Kelly, who underwent Tommy John surgery on April 2, has begun playing catch at a distance of 60 feet.

  • Tigers 3B Miguel Cabrera left Saturday's game against the White Sox with groin soreness.
  • Mariners SP Erasmo Ramirez is feeling better after leaving Friday's start with a tight right groin muscle.
  • RP Bruce Rondon (elbow) could be ready to pitch in a game for the Tigers by Tuesday.
  • Tigers RP Phil Coke (elbow) is expected to be ready next week.
  • Indians SP Justin Masterson (oblique) will pitch a simulated game on Sunday or Monday
  • Yankees manager Joe Girardi indicated that SP Phil Hughes could have his scheduled start against the Rays on Wednesday skipped.
  • Yankees manager Joe Girardi indicated Saturday that C Austin Romine (concussion) may not return this season.
  • RP Bruce Rondon (elbow) threw a side session on the field before Friday's game, taking a step closer in his return to the Tigers bullpen as the postseason approaches.
  • OF Robbie Grossman (oblique) has begun hitting off a tee, but still doesn't appear close to returning to the Astros.

  • SP Stephen Strasburg will pitch in the second game of the Nationals-Marlins doubleheader on Sunday after Saturday's game was postponed by rain.
  • Mets SP Zack Wheeler has been shut down for the season.
  • Mets 3B David Wright will not play on Sunday.
  • Pirates SP A.J. Burnett indicated Friday that he's "50/50" over whether he'll retire after the 2013 season concludes, or continue pitching.
  • Top prospect Archie Bradley will not be promoted to make a start for the Diamondbacks over the final week of the regular season.
  • Walt Weiss is expected to return for his second season as the Rockies manager in 2014.
  • Phillies RP Zach Miner will assume the injured Kyle Kendrick's rotation spot for the remainder of the 2013 season.

American League:

  • Twins RP Anthony Swarzak will be away from the team for the remainder of the weekend as he tends to a family issue.
  • SP Roberto Hernandez is likely to start for the Rays on Sunday against the Orioles.
  • Mariners SP Hisashi Iwakuma is not a certainty to make his final scheduled start of the season against the Royals on Tuesday.
