  • Reds OF Jay Bruce smashed a walkoff homer in the 10th inning.
  • Reds SP Bronson Arroyo experienced mixed results in a no-decision, surrendering three runs (two earned) on 12 hits over 7 2/3 innings.
  • Brewers 2B Scooter Gennett had the best offensive day of his young major league career, going 3-for-5 with a double and a solo home run.
  • Brewers SP Kyle Lohse turned in a quality start in a no-decision, allowing three runs on five hits over his six frames.
(28-38) Dodgers - 0 at 3 - Pirates (40-27)
  • Pirates OF Andrew McCutchen went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI, providing more than enough support for Jeff Locke.
  • Pirates RP Jason Grilli notched his league leading 24th save.
  • Pirates SP Jeff Locke twirled a gem, allowing just two hits and a walk over seven scoreless innings.
  • Dodgers OF Yasiel Puig showed no ill effects of his right shoulder injury, going 2-for-4.
  • Dodgers SP Stephen Fife pitched decently, surrendering two runs on six hits and three walks over his five innings.
(27-38) Cubs - 6 at 3 - Mets (24-38)
  • Cubs SP Edwin Jackson fired six innings of one-run ball allowing five hits and striking out seven.
  • Mets SP Shaun Marcum was tagged for six runs in 5 2/3 innings.
  • Cubs 1B Anthony Rizzo went 3-for-4 with two runs scored.
  • Mets 3B David Wright went 3-for-3 with a walk in Friday's loss to the Cubs.
(37-30) Diamondbacks - 1 at 2 - Padres (33-34)
  • Padres SP Eric Stults pitched a two-hitter for his third career complete game.
  • Diamondbacks SP Trevor Cahill matched his career high with 10 strikeouts, but he took a loss after allowing two runs in 5 2/3 innings.
  • Padres 2B Logan Forsythe knocked in all the clubs runs with a bases loaded single.
(43-24) Cardinals - 4 at 5 - Marlins (20-46)
  • Marlins SP Jose Fernandez struck out a career-high 10 batters while allowing three runs -- two earned -- in seven innings.
  • In his return from the disabled list, Cardinals SP Jake Westbrook yielded five runs -- three earned -- over five innings.
  • Marlins OF Giancarlo Stanton went 3-for-4 with a two-run double.
  • Cardinals 1B Allen Craig went 2-for-4 with an RBI single and a run scored.
(37-30) Giants - 6 at 0 - Braves (39-28)
  • Giants SP Madison Bumgarner gave up just two singles over seven scoreless innings.
  • Braves SP Kris Medlen allowed four runs on a season-high nine hits over six innings.
  • Giants OF Gregor Blanco went 2-for-5 with a solo homer and an RBI single.
  • Braves C Brian McCann went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts.
(33-35) Phillies - 8 at 7 - Rockies (35-33)
  • Phillies 2B Freddy Galvis went 2-for-4 with a pair of two-run triples.
  • Phillies SP Kyle Kendrick was knocked around for a season-high seven runs in 4 1/3 innings in a no-decision.
  • Rockies SP Juan Nicasio surrendered five runs over 5 2/3 innings in a no-decision.
  • Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez (foot) went 4-for-4 with a solo home run, two runs scored, and a stolen base.
  • Rockies 2B Josh Rutledge clubbed a two-run homer.

American League:

(41-28) Red Sox - 0 at 2 - Orioles (39-29)
  • Orioles SP Chris Tillman spun six scoreless frames while striking out three and allowing three hits.
  • Red Sox SP Ryan Dempster allowed two runs in 7 2/3 innings while allowing five hits.
  • Orioles 1B Chris Davis launched his major league-leading 22nd home run.
  • Red Sox 3B Jose Iglesias went 2-for-4 with a double.
(32-33) Royals - 7 at 2 - Rays (35-32)
  • DH Billy Butler led the Royals' offensive attack, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.
  • Royals SP Luis Mendoza turned in a second consecutive strong outing, allowing just two runs on six hits over six innings of work.
  • Rays OF Matt Joyce smashed his 13th home run of the season in a losing effort.
  • Rays SP Matt Moore's recent struggles continued, where he allowed five runs on seven hits over his 5 1/3 innings.
(30-36) Blue Jays - 8 at 0 - Rangers (38-29)
  • Blue Jays SP Mark Buehrle spun seven scoreless innings while allowing four hits and striking out seven.
  • Rangers SP Justin Grimm was tagged for a career-high seven runs in 7 2/3 innings.
  • Blue Jays OF Colby Rasmus connected for a three-run homer.
  • Rangers OF Leonys Martin went 0-for-3 with a strikeout.
(37-30) Yankees - 2 at 5 - Angels (29-38)
  • Angels SP C.J. Wilson allowed two runs and five hits in seven innings.
  • Yankees SP Andy Pettitte was charged with four runs in seven innings.
  • After getting his first day off of the season Wednesday, Angels 1B Mark Trumbo came back with three hits and two runs scored.
(37-28) Tigers - 4 at 0 - Twins (29-35)
  • Tigers 1B Prince Fielder went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two RBI.
  • Tigers SP Rick Porcello delivered another outstanding performance in a victory, scattering three hits over seven scoreless innings.
  • Twins SS Pedro Florimon had a rough night at the dish, going 0-for-3 with a strikeout.
  • One bad inning doomed Twins SP Scott Diamond, where he allowed four runs on five hits over his 5 2/3 innings.
(28-36) White Sox - 1 at 2 - Astros (24-44)
  • Astros 2B Jose Altuve went 2-for-4 with an RBI single and a stolen base.
  • White Sox SP Chris Sale struck out 14 batters and allowed two unearned runs in eight innings, but was handed a tough-luck loss.
  • Astros SP Erik Bedard allowed an unearned run over six innings.
  • White Sox 2B Gordon Beckham went 1-for-4 with a single and two strikeouts in his first start of the season out of the leadoff spot.
(30-38) Mariners - 3 at 2 - Athletics (41-28)
  • Mariners SP Joe Saunders pitched seven innings of one-run ball.
  • Mariners RP Oliver Perez pitched a scoreless ninth in a 3-2 game for his first career save.
  • Mariners C Mike Zunino hit his first major league homer.
  • Athletics OF Chris Young finished 3-for-3 with a homer and a double.
Inter League:
(33-33) Nationals - 1 at 2 - Indians (33-33)
  • Indians 2B Jason Kipnis went 2-for-5 and drove in the winning run.
  • Indians SP Justin Masterson struck out 10 and allowed one run in seven innings in a no-decision.
  • Nationals SP Gio Gonzalez spun seven innings of one-run ball in a no-decision.
  • Indians OF Ryan Raburn homered and walked.
  • Nationals SS Ian Desmond went 0-for-3 with a walk and two strikeouts.

  • Diamondbacks 2B Aaron Hill (hand) experienced no problems when taking live batting practice on Friday, and will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Reno on Saturday.
  • Cubs OF David DeJesus has been diagnosed with a right shoulder strain which will require a trip to the disabled list.
  • Braves SP Brandon Beachy was scratched from his scheduled start against the Mets on Tuesday due to what is being considered minor elbow tenderness.
  • Reds RP Jonathan Broxton is dealing with swelling in his right elbow, and is listed as day-to-day.
  • Rockies C Wilin Rosario's recent biopsy showed no problems or irregularities with a rash on his arms.
  • Nationals OF Bryce Harper (knee) plans on testing his injured knee when the team travels to Philadelphia next week.
  • Giants Marco Scutaro (thumb) will not play this weekend against the Braves.
  • Giants manager Bruce Bochy said Friday that RP Santiago Casilla (knee) could be activated from the disabled list in 2-3 weeks.
  • Giants 2B Marco Scutaro (finger) took some swings Friday in an indoor cage.
  • Dodgers OF Matt Kemp (hamstring) will not be activated during the Dodgers' current roadtrip.
  • Marlins SP Nathan Eovaldi (shoulder) will be activated from the disabled list to start Tuesday against the Diamondbacks.
  • Mets SS Ruben Tejada (quad) is fielding grounders without moving laterally and running in a pool.
  • Reds OF Ryan Ludwick will throw on the field Friday for the first time since shoulder surgery in April.
  • Pirates SP A.J. Burnett said Friday that he has a Grade 1 tear in his right calf.

  • Blue Jays SP Brandon Morrow (forearm) threw 40 pitches in a bullpen session Friday.
  • Blue Jays RP Sergio Santos (elbow) threw long-toss Friday.
  • Blue Jays SS Jose Reyes (ankle) played two innings in a simulated game Friday.
  • Blue Jays SP Drew Hutchison (elbow) will throw a simulated game Tuesday.
  • Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said Friday that OF Josh Willingham is dealing with some minor knee soreness.

  • The Brewers will recall OF Caleb Gindl from Triple-A Nashville on Saturday to replace Ryan Braun on the active roster.
  • Diamondbacks SP Ian Kennedy will appeal his 10-game suspension incurred for his role in Tuesday's brawl with the Dodgers.
  • The Cubs have suspended 3B Ian Stewart 10 days for violating the "loyalty clause" in his contract.
  • Mets SP Zack Wheeler will make his MLB debut during Tuesday's doubleheader against the Braves.
  • Cardinals SP Tyler Lyons will start Saturday against the Marlins.
  • Pirates SP Brandon Cumpton is expected to start on Saturday against the Dodgers.
American League:
  • Mariners manager Eric Wedge said Friday that RP Tom Wilhelmsen will not be used as the team's closer for at least his next two or three outings.
  • Tigers agreed to terms with first-round pick RHP Jonathan Crawford.
  • Blue Jays C J.P. Arencibia is batting just .067/.122/.067 with a 3/17 BB/K ratio over his last 11 games.
