  • Cubs SP Edwin Jackson allowed two runs over 5 1/3 innings for his 1st win of the year.
  • Nationals SS Ian Desmond finished 3-for-4 for the second straight game.
  • Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg allowed four runs -- though none were earned -- in a losing effort.
  • Cubs 1B Anthony Rizzo went 3-for-5 with two RBI.
  • Cubs OF David DeJesus went 1-for-4 with two RBI, a run scored and a walk.
(15-19) Brewers - 7 at 13 - Reds (21-16)
  • Reds OF Jay Bruce went 3-for-5 with a homer and two RBI.
  • Brewers SS Jean Segura finished 4-for-5 in a losing effort.
  • Reds SP Mat Latos surrendered seven runs -- six earned -- over six innings.
  • Brewers SP Hiram Burgos was destroyed for 12 runs -- 10 earned -- over three innings.
(20-16) Pirates - 11 at 2 - Mets (14-19)
  • Pirates SP Francisco Liriano made his season debut and allowed one run in 5 1/3 innings.
  • Mets SP Jon Niese was hammered for eight runs over 4 1/3 innings.
  • Pirates OF Jose Tabata had a huge day at the plate, as he went 4-for-5 with a home run, three RBI and three runs scored.
  • Pirates 2B Jordy Mercer clubbed two solo homers.
  • Mets OF Andrew Brown smacked a solo homer.
(19-17) Rockies - 0 at 3 - Cardinals (23-12)
  • Cardinals SP Adam Wainwright lost a no-hit bid in the eighth inning, but settled for a two-hit shutout.
  • Rockies SP Jhoulys Chacin allowed two runs in five innings.
  • Cardinals 1B Allen Craig went 3-for-3 with a sacrifice fly.
  • Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts.
(17-21) Phillies - 3 at 1 - Diamondbacks (21-16)
  • Phillies SP Cliff Lee fired seven scoreless innings.
  • Phillies RP Jonathan Papelbon tossed 1 2/3 scoreless innings to earn his sixth save of 2013.
  • Phillies 1B Ryan Howard finished 0-for-5 with four strikeouts.
  • Diamondbacks SP Trevor Cahill allowed one run in five innings.
(11-25) Marlins - 1 at 7 - Dodgers (13-21)
  • Dodgers SS Dee Gordon took Kevin Slowey deep for his second big-league homer.
  • Dodgers OF Andre Ethier went 4-for-4 with two doubles and three runs scored.
  • Dodgers SP Hyun-Jin Ryu helped end the eight-game losing streak by allowing one run in 6 2/3 innings.
  • Marlins SP Kevin Slowey was handed a loss after giving up five runs in 4 2/3 innings.
(21-15) Braves - 1 at 10 - Giants (22-15)

American League:

(19-15) Indians - 7 at 6 - Tigers (20-14)
  • Indians SS Asdrubal Cabrera went 3-for-5 with two RBI on Saturday.
  • Indians RP Chris Perez worked out of a jam in the ninth inning to earn his sixth save.
  • Indians SP Ubaldo Jimenez delivered another strong performance, allowing just one run on three hits over his six innings.
  • Tigers SS Jhonny Peralta hit his third home run of the season in a losing effort.
  • Tigers SP Justin Verlander struggled allowing four runs and six hits in five frames.
(19-19) Athletics - 4 at 3 - Mariners (17-20)
  • Athletics SP Jarrod Parker yielded three runs in 6 1/3 innings.
  • Athletics 1B Daric Barton delivered a solo homer.
  • Mariners C Kelly Shoppach hit a two-run homer off Jarrod Parker in a losing effort.
  • Mariners OF Michael Morse went 0-for-4 and is 3-for-25 for the month of May.
(22-15) Orioles - 5 at 8 - Twins (17-16)
  • Twins RP Jared Burton earned his first save of the season.
  • Twins SP Vance Worley picked up his first win of the year despite allowing five earned runs on 11 hits over 5 1/3 innings.
  • Orioles SP Steve Johnson yielded six earned runs in four innings.
(14-24) Blue Jays - 3 at 2 - Red Sox (22-15) 
  • Blue Jays DH Adam Lind went 3-for-4 with a go-ahead solo homer and two runs scored.
  • Red Sox RP Junichi Tazawa gave up a go-ahead homer to Adam Lind in the top of the ninth.
  • Blue Jays SP Mark Buehrle allowed one run over seven-plus innings Saturday against the Red Sox, but was handed a tough-luck no-decision.
  • Red Sox SP Clay Buchholz yielded two runs in eight innings in a no-decision.
(14-22) Angels - 3 at 2 - White Sox (14-20)
  • Angels OF Mike Trout slugged his sixth home run of the season.
  • Angels RP Ernesto Frieri tallied his seventh save of the year.
  • Angels RP Jerome Williams allowed two earned runs over 6 2/3 innings to get his second win.
  • White Sox SP Jose Quintana gave up three runs -- two earned -- in six innings.
(22-13) Yankees - 3 at 2 - Royals (18-15)-
  • Yankees OF Vernon Wells hit a two-run homer off James Shields.
  • Yankees RP Mariano Rivera worked a scoreless ninth inning, preserving a one-run lead and notching his 14th save of the season in the process.
  • Yankees SP Andy Pettitte delivered seven strong innings surrendering just two runs.
  • Royals DH Billy Butler swatted his fourth homer of the year in a losing effort.
  • Royals SP James Shields pitched very well in a losing effort, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits over eight innings of work.
(23-13) Rangers - 8 at 7 - Astros (10-27)
  • Rangers SP Yu Darvish surrendered four earned runs in eight innings.
  • Astros SP Erik Bedard allowed two earned runs over five innings.
  • Astros 3B Matt Dominguez homered twice in a losing effort.
Inter League:
 
(16-20) Padres - 7 at 8 - Rays (18-18)
  • Rays 3B Evan Longoria smashed a game-winning two-run walkoff homer.
  • Rays 1B James Loney hit a two-run homer as part of a six-run second inning.
  • Rays SP Jeremy Hellickson was unable to hold an early 6-2 lead, surrendering six runs on six hits over 6 2/3 innings in a no-decision.
  • Padres RP Huston Street blew his first save of the 2013 season, surrendering a two-out, two-run homer to third baseman Evan Longoria.
  • Padres OF Jesus Guzman slugged a pinch-hit grand slam off Jeremy Hellickson in the sixth inning.
  • Padres SP Burch Smith was absolutely pummeled in his major league debut, surrendering six runs on five hits in just one-plus innings of work.

National League:
  • Braves signed RHP Kameron Loe to a minor league contract.
  • Brewers recalled RHP Mike Fiers from High-A Brevard County.
  • Brewers placed LHP Tom Gorzelanny on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 8, with shoulder tendinitis.
  • Padres purchased the contract of RHP Burch Smith from Double-A San Antonio.
  • Padres designated RHP Fautino De Los Santos for assignment.
  • Padres optioned RHP Brad Boxberger to Triple-A Tucson.
  • Nationals placed OF Jayson Werth on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 3, with a strained right hamstring.
  • Mets prospect RHP Domingo Tapia has been placed on the 7-day disabled list with High-A St. Lucie.
  • Nationals recalled OF Eury Perez from Triple-A Syracuse.
  • Pirates activated LHP Francisco Liriano from the 15-day disabled list.
  • Pirates optioned RHP Duke Welker to Triple-A Indianapolis.
  • Phillies recalled RHP Justin De Fratus from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
  • Phillies optioned RHP Tyler Cloyd to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
American League:
  • Orioles optioned RHP Steve Johnson to Triple-A Norfolk.
  • Astros sent OF Fernando Rodriguez outright to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
  • Orioles recalled RHP Steve Johnson from Triple-A Norfolk.
  • Orioles optioned RHP Alex Burnett to Triple-A Norfolk.
  • Angels recalled RHP Robert Coello from Triple-A Salt Lake.
  • Angels optioned OF Scott Cousins to Triple-A Salt Lake.
  • Blue Jays recalled RHP Chad Jenkins from Double-A New Hampshire.
  • Blue Jays placed OF Rajai Davis on the 15-day disabled list with a strained oblique.
  • Royals released RHP Dan Wheeler.
Injury Updates:

National League:

  • Braves OF Jason Heyward went 0-for-3 and was hit by a pitch Saturday in his second rehab game with Triple-A Gwinnett.
  • Cubs 3B Luis Valbuena is considered day-to-day after X-rays on his jammed right pinkie came back negative.
  • Cubs SP Matt Garza (lat) tossed 65 pitches in his second rehab start with Double-A Tennessee on Saturday, allowing three hits and a pair of walks over 3 1/3 scoreless innings.
  • Giants 3B Pablo Sandoval, who was hit by a pitch during Saturday's game, underwent X-rays on his forearm to rule out a fracture.
  • Dodgers SP Zack Greinke (collarbone) reported feeling no pain or discomfort after Friday's rehab start and has deemed himself ready to start on Wednesday against the Nationals.
  • Giants RP Santiago Casilla (knee) is not expected to be available until Tuesday.
  • Dodgers SP Stephen Fife (shoulder) has resumed a throwing program.
American League:
  • Yankees OF Curtis Granderson went 2-for-4 as the DH in his third rehab game Saturday at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
  • Athletics SP Brett Anderson (ankle) will throw around 85 pitches in his rehab start with Double-A Midland on Sunday.
  • Athletics OF Chris Young (quad) will head to extended spring training in Arizona on Sunday and is scheduled to play in two games before returning from the DL on Wednesday.
  • White Sox 2B Gordon Beckham (hand) hit off of a tee again Saturday and noted that he felt better than he did on Friday.
  • Angels RP Kevin Jepsen (triceps) threw his first bullpen session Saturday since landing on the disabled list.
  • Angels SP Jered Weaver (elbow) threw his second bullpen session Saturday and reported feeling fine.
  • Rangers SP Colby Lewis is experiencing discomfort in his right triceps muscle and may miss his next rehab start.
  • Tigers RP Octavio Dotel visited Dr. James Andrews for a second opinion on his injured right elbow.
  • Blue Jays prospect RHP Roberto Osuna could need Tommy John surgery.
  • Red Sox RP Andrew Bailey (forearm) may be able to return without a rehab assignment.
  • Blue Jays SP Brandon Morrow (neck) will have his next start pushed back to Wednesday against the Giants.
  • Red Sox RP Joel Hanrahan (elbow) confirmed Saturday that he will undergo season-ending surgery.
