  • RP Jim Henderson earned his second save of the season in the Brewers' 10-8 victory over the Giants.
  • Padres SP Jason Marquis limited the Dodgers to one run and three hits in 7 2/3 innings to earn his first win of the season.

  • Rockies SP Jeff Francis was roughed up again, but escaped with a no-decision, allowing eight runs -- six earned -- over 4 1/3 frames in the 9-8 win over the Mets.

  • Padres 2B Alexi Amarista singled three times and drove in four runs against the Dodgers.

  • Padres OF Chris Denorfia went 3-for-6 with a double, a steal and two runs scored vs.the Dodgers.

  • Mets SP Aaron Laffey lasted just four innings against the Rockies, giving up two runs on four hits and three walks.

  • Dodgers OF Matt Kemp went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts before being removed against the Padres.

  • Mets RP Bobby Parnell blew his first save of the season in a loss to the Rockies.

  • Rockies 1B Jordan Pacheco went 3-for-5 and drove in the winning run in the bottom of the 10th in a win over the Mets.

  • Mets OF Collin Cowgill went 3-for-6 with a run scored in a loss to the Rockies.

  • 3B Pablo Sandoval went 2-for-4 with four RBI in the Giants' loss to the Brewers.

  • OF Ryan Braun went 0-for-5 with four strikeouts in the Brewers' win over the Giants.

  • Brewers OF Carlos Gomez went 3-for-4 with his first home run of the season against the Giants.

  • Brewers SP Wily Peralta allowed six runs -- five earned -- in four innings against the Giants.

  • SP Barry Zito allowed nine runs in 2 2/3 innings as the Giants lost to the Brewers.

  • Reds SP Homer Bailey struck out 10 batters over eight scoreless innings against the Phillies.

  • Cubs SP Travis Wood allowed two runs in 7 1/3 innings, but he took the loss against the Rangers.

  • Diamondbacks SP Brandon McCarthy exited after allowing nine hits and four walks in four innings against the Yankees.

  • Braves OF Justin Upton hit his eighth home run of the season against the Royals.

  • SP Alex Sanabia allowed just two runs in six innings in the Marlins' 8-2 win over the Nationals.

  • SP Dan Haren allowed seven runs -- three earned -- in 4 1/3 innings as the Nationals fell to the Marlins.

  • Phillies SP Kyle Kendrick pitched 7 innings of shutout ball against the Reds.
  • OF Justin Ruggiano finished 2-for-4 with three RBI in the Marlins' win over the Nationals.

  • Braves 3B Juan Francisco hit two solo home runs off Royals starter Jeremy Guthrie.

  • OF Juan Pierre stole two bases in the Marlins' defeat of the Nationals.

  • SP Kris Medlen allowed two runs -- one earned -- over seven innings as the Braves beat the Royals.

  • OF Eric Young Jr. went 3-for-5 with a triple, two RBI and a steal as the Rockies beat the Mets 8-4 in the first game of a doubleheader.

  • Mets SP Dillon Gee lost to the Rockies after allowing five runs in 4 2/3 innings.

  • Mets 3B David Wright hit his first two homers of the season in the first game of a doubleheader against the Rockies.

American League:

  • 3B Miguel Cabrera went 3-for-5 with a homer and four RBI as the Tigers beat the Mariners 6-2.
  • Tigers SP Doug Fister yielded two runs and four hits in seven innings in a win over the Mariners.

  • SP Aaron Harang took a loss in his Mariners debut after allowing three runs in five innings against the Tigers.

  • Tigers DH Victor Martinez had three hits to raise his average from .146 to .194.

  • 2B Eric Sogard went 3-for-3 with a triple, a double and a steal as the A's edged the Astros 4-3.

  • A's SP A.J. Griffin yielded two runs and four hits in six innings against the Astros.

  • Astros C Jason Castro went hitless to drop his average to .200 in 50 at-bats.

  • C Joe Mauer went 4-for-5 with three RBI in the Twins' 8-6 victory against the Angels.

  • RP Glen Perkins recorded his third save of the season in the Twins' defeat of the Angels.

  • Angels SP Jason Vargas surrendered five earned runs over just 3 1/3 innings in a loss to the Twins.

  • OF Josh Hamilton finished 0-for-4 with a strikeout in the Angels' loss to the Twins.

  • SP Derek Holland allowed just two hits in seven innings of work as the Rangers defeated the Cubs 4-2.

  • Rangers RP Joe Nathan allowed two inherited runs to score but recorded the final out against the Cubs for his fifth save of the season.

  • Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in a win over the Cubs.

  • Red Sox SP Felix Doubront struck out seven but lasted just five innings, allowing two runs on four hits and four walks in a 7-2 win over the Indians.

  • RP Jim Johnson saved his sixth game of the year, securing a 5-4 victory for the Orioles over the Rays.

  • Indians SP Ubaldo Jimenez was lit up for seven runs on two hits and five walks over just 1 2/3 innings in a loss to the Red Sox.

  • OF Nick Markakis went 2-for-3 with an RBI in the Orioles' win over the Rays.

  • SP Jake Arrieta walked five but allowed just one run in five innings as the Orioles beat the Rays.

  • Red Sox 1B Mike Napoli stayed hot, going 2-for-5 with a bases-clearing double in a win over the Indians.

  • SP Roberto Hernandez allowed five runs -- three earned -- in 5 1/3 innings as the Rays lost to the Orioles.

  • Yankees RP Mariano Rivera converted his third save of the season closing out the Diamondbacks.

  • Indians 3B Lonnie Chisenhall went 0-for-4 at the plate in a loss to the Red Sox.

  • Yankees 2B Robinson Cano went 2-for-4 including his fourth home run of the season in a win over Arizona.

  • SP Ivan Nova allowed two runs in five innings as the Yankees defeated the Diamondbacks.

  • 1B Paul Konerko went 2-for-3 with a home run as the White Sox beat the Blue Jays 4-3.

  • Blue Jays C J.P. Arencibia went 2-for-4 and hit his fifth home run of the season .

  • SP Dylan Axelrod allowed two runs in seven innings, helping the White Sox beat the Blue Jays.

  • Blue Jays SP Josh Johnson struck out eight batters and allowed two runs over seven innings in a tough luck loss to the White Sox.

  • Royals RP Kelvin Herrera allowed four runs, including three solo home runs, to the Braves.

  • SP Jeremy Guthrie allowed only two solo home runs over seven innings, but the Royals lost to the Braves 6-3.

Player Transactions:

National League:
  • Marlins optioned C Kyle Skipworth to Triple-A New Orleans.

  • Marlins 1B Joe Mahoney (oblique) will be activated from the disabled list prior to Wednesday's game.
  • Giants recalled RHP Jean Machi from Triple-A Fresno.

  • Giants placed LHP Jeremy Affeldt on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 15, with a strained right oblique.

  • Cubs purchased the contract of RHP Kevin Gregg from Triple-A Iowa.

  • Cubs designated INF/OF Brent Lillibridge for assignment.

  • Cubs designated LHP Hisanori Takahashi for assignment.

  • Cubs claimed INF Cody Ransom off waivers from the Padres.

  • Cubs activated 2B Darwin Barney from the 15-day disabled list.

  • Diamondbacks activated INF Didi Gregorius from the 15-day disabled list.

  • Diamondbacks placed 2B Aaron Hill (fractured hand) on the 15-day disabled list. He's expected to be out 4-6 weeks.
  • Padres 3B Chase Headley (thumb) is scheduled to return from the disabled list on Wednesday.
  • Pirates optioned RHP Bryan Morris to Triple-A Indianapolis.

  • Pirates purchased the contract of RHP Vin Mazzaro from Triple-A Indianapolis.

American League:
  • Twins recalled OF Oswaldo Arcia from Triple-A Rochester.

  • Twins placed OF Darin Mastroianni on the 15-day disabled list with a left ankle injury.

  • The White Sox will recall OF Jordan Danks prior to Wednesday's game.

  • White Sox optioned RHP Deunte Heath to Triple-A Charlotte.

  • Mariners recalled RHP Yoervis Medina from Triple-A Tacoma.

  • Indians OF Michael Bourn (hand) will be placed on the 15-day DL.

  • Blue Jays sent RHP Jeremy Jeffress outright to Triple-A Buffalo.

  • Indians sent RHP Robert Whitenack outright to Triple-A Indianapolis.

  • Indians recalled INF Cord Phelps from Triple-A Columbus.

  • Indians optioned C Omir Santos to Triple-A Columbus.

  • Athletics recalled OF Shane Peterson from Triple-A Sacramento.

  • Athletics placed 1B Brandon Moss on the paternity leave list.

  • Rays transferred RHP Jeff Niemann from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

  • Rays acquired LHP Jeff Beliveau from the Rangers for cash considerations; optioned him to Triple-A Durham.

  • Red Sox recalled RHP Steven Wright from Triple-A Pawtucket.

  • Red Sox placed RHP Joel Hanrahan on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 14, with a right hamstring strain.

Injury Updates:

National League:

  • Mets OF Lucas Duda left the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Rockies with lower back tightness.
  • Dodgers RP Chris Capuano left Tuesday's start in the third inning with a left leg injury.

  • Braves RP Luis Avilan left Tuesday's game against the Royals with a left hamstring injury.

  • SS Hanley Ramirez (thumb) said he'll return to the Dodgers' lineup "way sooner" than mid-May.

  • Cubs SP Matt Garza (lat) will begin a rehab assignment with Low-A Kane County on Friday.

  • Nationals 2B Danny Espinosa (wrist) isn't expected back in the lineup until Friday.

  • Pirates SP Wandy Rodriguez (hamstring) will throw a bullpen session Wednesday before he's cleared to start on Friday.

  • Marlins OF Austin Kearns (irregular heartbeat) has been cleared to resume playing.

  • Braves 1B Freddie Freeman (oblique) said he "felt fine" while taking 30 swings on Tuesday.

  • Pirates SP Francisco Liriano (arm) struck out six over three perfect innings Monday in his first minor league rehab start with High-A Bradenton.

American League:
  • Angels RP Ryan Madson (elbow) expects to begin a rehab assignment next week and be activated on May 1.

  • Twins OF Wilkin Ramirez left Tuesday's game with a back contusion.

  • SS Hiroyuki Nakajima (hamstring) won't begin a rehab assignment until the A's next homestand, which begins on April 25.

  • A's 2B Adam Rosales (intercostal) will begin a rehab assignment on Wednesday.

  • White Sox SP John Danks (shoulder) threw six innings in an extended spring training game on Monday.

  • Blue Jays OF Jose Bautista is also dealing with an inner ear infection in addition to his back spasms.

  • Mariners RP Stephen Pryor will not require surgery to repair a right lat tear.

  • An MRI on Angels RP Kevin Jepsen's right shoulder came back normal, but he will undergo further testing.

  • Red Sox SP John Lackey (biceps) threw from 120 feet on Tuesday with no issues.

  • Red Sox RP Franklin Morales (back) will begin a rehab assignment with Low-A Greenville on Wednesday.

  • Rays DH Luke Scott (calf) ran the bases at about 60 percent effort on Tuesday.

  • Yankees manager Joe Girardi said Tuesday that a May 1 return for SS Derek Jeter (ankle) is very unlikely.

  • A's 2B Scott Sizemore underwent successful surgery on Tuesday to repair a torn ACL in his left knee.

  • SP Scott Kazmir (rib cage) is on track to join the Indians' starting rotation Saturday against the Astros.

  • White Sox 2B Gordon Beckham underwent surgery on Tuesday afternoon to remove the hamate bone from his left hand.

  • Yankees SP Andy Pettitte (back) threw 40 pitches in a bullpen session Tuesday and expects to start Friday against the Orioles.

  • Indians C Carlos Santana (thumb) is back in Tuesday's starting lineup against the Red Sox.

  • Red Sox DH David Ortiz (heel) still expects to be activated from the disabled list Friday.

  • Indians C Lou Marson (neck) is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment Tuesday night with Triple-A Columbus.
