Yesterday's Notable Stat Lines:

National League:
  • Braves OF Justin Upton hit two home runs -- including a ninth-inning walk-off -- in  a 6-5 win over the Cubs.

  • Cubs RP Carlos Marmol blew his first save of the season, allowing a walk-off home run to Justin Upton.

  • Cubs RP Kyuji Fujikawa allowed three earned runs in one inning of work in a loss to the Braves.

  • Braves SP Julio Teheran was hammered for five earned runs over five innings in a no-decision against the Cubs.

  • Cubs SP Carlos Villanueva limited the Braves to one earned run over 6 2/3 innings in a no-decision.

  • INF Kevin Frandsen hit a two-out, bases-loaded pinch-hit double to give the Phillies a 4-3 win over the Royals.

  • SP John Lannan allowed three runs in seven innings and took a no-decision in the Phillies' win over the Royals.

  • SP Shelby Miller allowed two runs in 5 1/3 innings as the Cardinals defeated the Giants 6-3.

  • OF Hunter Pence hit a home run and stole a base, but the Giants lost to the Cardinals.

  • OF Carlos Beltran went 2-for-4 with three RBI in the Cardinals' win against the Giants.

  • SP Ryan Vogelsong allowed five runs in 5 1/3 innings in the Giants' loss to the Cardinals.
  • SP Patrick Corbin held the Brewers to two earned runs over six innings in a 9-2 Diamondbacks win.
  • SP Michael Fiers surrendered six earned runs over five innings Saturday in the Brewers' loss to Arizona.

  • Marlins SP Ricky Nolasco gave up three runs in 5 1/3 innings in a no-decision against the Mets.
  • RP Rafael Soriano blew a save in the Nationals' 7-6 extra-innings victory over the Reds.

  • C John Buck drove in four runs to help the Mets beat the visiting Marlins by a score of 7-3.

  • Mets SP Jon Niese allowed two runs (one earned) over six innings as part of a no-decision against the Marlins.

American League:

  • RP Grant Balfour picked up his first save of the season in the A's win over the Astros.
  • SP Bartolo Colon allowed three runs over six innings in the A's 6-3 defeat of the Astros.

  • 1B Justin Morneau went 3-for-5 and hit the game-winning single in the Twins' 6-5 win over the Orioles.

  • Twins RP Glen Perkins worked a 1-2-3 ninth inning against the Orioles to pick up his first save of the season.

  • Orioles SP Chris Tillman allowed five runs in just 3 2/3 innings against the Twins.

  • SP Vance Worley allowed 10 hits and five runs -- four earned -- in five innings in the Twins' win over the Orioles.

  • SP Alex Cobb hurled 7 1/3 scoreless innings as the Rays cruised past the Indians 6-0.

  • Indians SP Trevor Bauer allowed three earned runs over five innings in a loss to the Rays.

  • RP Greg Holland blew a two-run lead in the ninth inning as the Royals lost to the Phillies.

  • SP Luis Mendoza limited the Phillies to one run over six innings, but the Royals bullpen lost the game in the 9th inning.

  • Tigers SP Max Scherzer gave up four earned runs over five innings in an 8-4 win against the Yankees.

  • Yankees SP Phil Hughes yielded four runs -- three earned -- over four innings in a loss to the Tigers.

  • 1B Albert Pujols hit two home runs in the Angels' 8-4 win over the Rangers.

  • OF Josh Hamilton went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in the Angels' win over the Rangers.

  • Angels SP Tommy Hanson allowed three earned runs over six innings in a win over the Rangers.

  • Rangers SP Matt Harrison was shelled for five earned runs over five innings in a loss to the Angels.

  • Blue Jays C J.P. Arencibia went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and a double in a win over the Red Sox.

  • SP Dylan Axelrod went 5 2/3 scoreless innings in Chicago's 4-3 victory against the Mariners.

  • Mariners SP Felix Hernandez surrendered four earned runs over 6 1/3 innings in a loss to the White Sox.

  • SP J.A. Happ tossed 5 1/3 scoreless innings in the Blue Jays' 5-0 win over the Red Sox.

Player Transactions:

National League:

  • Mets purchased the contract of LHP Aaron Laffey from Triple-A Las Vegas.

  • Mets optioned RHP Jeurys Familia to Triple-A Las Vegas.

  • Brewers recalled UTIL Josh Prince from Triple-A Nashville.

  • Dodgers acquired C Ramon Hernandez from the Rockies for RHP Aaron Harang and cash considerations. Rockies then designated Harang for assignment.

  • Diamondbacks claimed RHP Will Harris off waivers from the Athletics; assigned him to Triple-A Reno.

  • Mets transferred LHP Johan Santana from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

  • Brewers placed 3B Aramis Ramirez on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained left knee.

American League:
  • Twins optioned LHP Tyler Robertson to Triple-A Rochester.

  • Angels signed INF Bill Hall to a minor league contract.

  • Orioles optioned INF/OF Yamaico Navarro to Triple-A Norfolk.

  • Orioles activated RHP Chris Tillman from the 15-day disabled list.

  • Yankees optioned RHP Cody Eppley to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

  • Indians recalled RHP Trevor Bauer from Triple-A Columbus.

  • Astros recalled LHP Dallas Keuchel from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

  • Blue Jays purchased the contract of RHP Dave Bush from Triple-A Buffalo.

  • Blue Jays designated RHP Jeremy Jeffress for assignment.

  • Athletics reinstated RHP Bartolo Colon from the suspended list.

  • Athletics optioned RHP Dan Straily to Triple-A Sacramento.

  • Astros placed LHP Travis Blackley on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 5, with a left shoulder strain.

  • Twins C Drew Butera has been placed on the 7-day minor league disabled list with a broken left hand.

  • Orioles SP Daniel McCutchen has been suspended 50 games for violating the minor league baseball drug policy.

Injury Updates:

National League:

  • Cardinals 3B David Freese said his back responded well to his first rehab game at Triple-A Memphis on Friday.

  • Cubs 2B Darwin Barney (knee) took batting practice on Saturday.

  • Reds RP Sean Marshall (shoulder) is likely to pitch Sunday.

  • According to MLB.com's Adam McCalvy, Brewers OF Ryan Braun (neck) "can't move his head at all."

  • Braves SS Andrelton Simmons was scratched from Saturday's lineup with a left thumb sprain.

  • 1B Adam LaRoche (back) was not in the Nationals' lineup Saturday.

  • Dodgers SP Chad Billingsley (finger) has been cleared to start Wednesday against the Padres.

  • Pirates RP Jeanmar Gomez underwent X-rays on his rib cage after Friday's game against the Dodgers.

American League:
  • Twins OF Darin Mastroianni (ankle) said he's progressing but will still likely need a few days before he's ready to start.

  • A's OF Yoenis Cespedes felt a little pain in his elbow during Saturday's game but was able to stay in the game.

  • Indians C Lou Marson left Saturday's game against the Rays after a home-plate collision with Desmond Jennings in the third inning.

  • Indians DH Jason Giambi (back) will be activated Tuesday.

  • RedSox SP John Lackey will undergo an MRI on his injured right arm Sunday morning in Boston.

  • Yankees INF Eduardo Nunez (bicep) was not in Saturday's lineup against the Tigers.

  • Angels RP Ryan Madson (elbow) threw another bullpen session Saturday.

  • Yankees SS Derek Jeter (ankle) has resumed fielding activities.

  • Orioles RP Steve Johnson (lat) threw a 35-pitch bullpen session Friday.

  • Red Sox SS Stephen Drew (concussion) did not play in his rehab game Saturday at Double-A Portland.

  • Blue Jays OF Jose Bautista (ankle) was not in Saturday's lineup against the Red Sox.

  • Red Sox SS Jose Iglesias (forearm) was not in Saturday's lineup against the Blue Jays.

  • A's OF Coco Crisp is dealing with lower back stiffness.

Notes and Rumors:

National League:

  • Cubs manager Dale Sveum said there will be a discussion about other closer options after RP Carlos Marmol blew his first save of the season on Saturday.

  • The New York Post confirms that SP Zack Wheeler is "not far away" from being promoted to the Mets.

American League:

  • Orioles Ryan Flaherty started his second straight game in place of the injured Brian Roberts at second base on Saturday afternoon.

  • Tigers manager Jim Leyland said he would like to see Joaquin Benoit emerge as the team's closer.
