Let's get right to the trots!

Home Run of the Day: Cliff Lee, Philadelphia Phillies – 20.42* seconds [video]
Michael Morse hit a bomb in Wrigley Field and Bobby Abreu hit two home runs in a victory over the Yankees, but neither could compete with Cliff Lee. The Phillies beat the Dodgers 2-1 on Tuesday, with the second run coming off the bat of Lee himself in the seventh. It's Lee's second home run of the year (and second of his career). The trot time is marked as approximate (*) because I wasn't able to tell which step exactly touched home plate (the Philadelphia broadcast didn't show it at all, while the Los Angeles broadcast only showed it from chest high).

Slowest Trot: Aubrey Huff, San Francisco Giants – 24.55 seconds [video]
Feels like it's a been a while since we've had a "slowest trot" come in so quickly. This blast from Huff came oh-so-close to sailing over the rightfield wall and into McCovey Cove.

Quickest Trot: Endy Chavez, Texas Rangers – 18.46 seconds [video]
Chavez came through with the quickest trot of the night on Tuesday, but the real story comes just above his name on the list. Three players hit their first career home runs on Tuesday: Chris Stewart in San Francisco, who finally hit his first tater after a ten-year pro career, and Brian Bogusevic and Johnny Paredes, who did it for the same team and in the same game. Two of those trots found their way to the top of the board, a hair behind Chavez. We always expect to see the guys with the first career home runs running the bases the quickest, but it isn't usually the case. Not Tuesday.

I think I enjoy reading this not just because it's fun but because it takes me back to the old "Going, Going, Gone!" homerun list that they'd run at the end of Baseball Tonight. I still remember watching Baseball Tonight for the first time when I was in second grade (-ish) and getting hooked as a baseball fan forever.

Plus, I love that it answers the questions I ask in my head like, "Wait...was that Bogusevic's first career homer?"

Thank you, Larry!
