BP Annual Player Comments

YearComment
2011 Leo Rosales is only successful when his pals Command and Control meet him on the mound. Last season, they usually refused to hang out with him.
2010 Leo Rosales posted solid peripherals last season due to a crazy-good changeup, but at his age he's not going to develop beyond being bullpen filler.
2009 When Rosales was in the Padres system, he closed at every level and did it well. This inspired dreams of his becoming the next Trevor Hoffman, a ninth-inning guy with a ridiculously good changeup. While Rosales's change is that good a pitch, he doesn't really have anything to set it up with—all he can do is try to keep hitters' timing off kilter. That works if you're Doug Jones and can throw about 12 different changeups, but Rosales has just one and less command.
2008 The bounty received from San Diego for Scott Hairston, Leo Rosales is a backwards reliever, relying on a changeup as his out pitch. You can add him to the pile of pitchers wishing they could be the next Doug Jones.
