2014-04-09 19:00:00 (link to chat)I've been getting crushed by injuries early. I'm in a 15 team mixed where my only healthy closer left is Latroy Hawkins, yeah I know. There are no closers on waivers and most of the really good closers in waiting are taken. I'm looking at names like A.J Ramos, Jake McGee and Edward Mujica. If you're speculating on future saves are there any under the radar options that people might not be that familiar with? Thanks.
(KcDozer from Florida)
Starting to think there are no healthy relievers left. I would say Cody Allen but Bret Sayre has blown him up already. Daniel Webb on the White Sox should get a look if Matt Lindstrom fails in Nate Jonesí absence. Jeurys Familia has his issues and isnít exactly holding it down this year but he still throws hard and has a slider which is the requisite closer starting kit. Dellin Betances can get a look, there are a few names out there. (Mauricio Rubio)
2014-03-19 20:00:00 (link to chat)Drop LaTroy Hawkins for any of O'Day, Qualls, Fields, or Scheppers?
(Mike from Chicago)
I'd hold off until we know for sure that Hawkins isn't the closer. None of those Houston guys interest me much, since I think it's Crain's job when his shoulder wakes up. (Bret Sayre)
2013-07-02 13:00:00 (link to chat)I'm proud of the Beltran/Wheeler trade. Wish I had another rabbit in the hat, but I don't think I have a marketable commodity to deal for a piece like that. Is there anybody I can flip at the deadline? Should I deal Parnell now?
(Sandy Alderson from Not Shea Stadium)
You absolutely don't have anybody for a deal like that. And yes, the Mets should trade Parnell. LaTroy Hawkins for a lottery ticket too. (Zachary Levine)
2008-08-18 13:00:00 (link to chat)Why are Astros fans under the false impression they are still in the playoff hunt...with or without this long winning streak?
(Drew from Chicago)
Because that's what the management team has been telling them for months, and that team went out and traded for Randy Wolf and LaTroy Hawkins to reinforce that idea. (Joe Sheehan)
2008-07-30 12:30:00 (link to chat)John, I'd like to see the Tigers make a move, but I'm afraid the move will be to overpay in talent for a marginal reliever. Can you calm my nerves and/or send me running for the Mylanta?
(Zach from Mass.)
The Tigers are making it clear to other teams that they aren't going to overpay. They kicked the tires on George Sherrill and found the cost prohibitive. They may add a middle man like LaTroy Hawkins and hope for continued improvement and good health from Zumaya and Rodney. (John Perrotto)
