DateQuestionAnswer
2011-06-03 16:00:00You have mentioned Trevor Story, who is following Blake Beavan as a potential first round pick from my old high school. Is there any chance Texas would spring for the local boy again after trading the first one? And, would he remain at shortstop or project to a different position? (for any team, not just Texas)
(jhardman from Irving High School Class of 1980)
He looks like he could stay at short, but I don't think he's in the Rangers mix at 33. (Kevin Goldstein)
2010-05-28 14:00:00What do you see Blake Beavan doing down the road? He's definitely getting more Ks and the command is as sterling as ever. He also appears to keep the ball down.
(Conjunction from Dallas)
I'm coming around on him. He's a weird one to deal with because he's just not what we thought he would be. That said, he's a very efficient pitcher built for innings, and while he's probably not a star, he's the kind of guy who is going to give you 200+ solid innings a year and that's incredibly valuable. (Kevin Goldstein)
2008-09-24 14:00:00Kevin, why has your opinion on Blake Beavan been so affected by the scouting reports on his velocity? His numbers at Low-A Clinton were still very solid considering he was a first-year player in full-season ball, and it's not that uncommon to see a young pitcher lose velocity in his first full season.
(Joey Matschulat from Tyler, TX)
It's not uncommon to see that, but it is uncommon to see that big a velocity drop. Yes his numbers are solid, but when you look at the numbers that are really important at the low levels, 73 Ks in 121.2 innings is a cause for concern. (Kevin Goldstein)
