DateQuestionAnswer
2014-07-03 19:00:00 (link to chat)Thanks for the chat! Who has the greatest ceiling and what is their future rotation spot - Lucas Sims, Trey Ball, Kohl Stewart, Jeff Hoffman, and Hunter Harvey.
(Nicta from Peoria AZ)
I think Kohl Stewart and Hunter Harvey have the biggest ceilings here. Kohl has a very athletic delivery/body and I dig his profile. I would probably put him over Harvey. (Mauricio Rubio)
2014-06-24 13:00:00 (link to chat)How would you rank Aaron Sanchez, Jose Berrios, Lucas Sims, ChiChi Gonzales, & Marco Gonzales as prospects?
(bzalaski from Madison, WI)
Chi Chi, Gonzales, Sanchez, Berrios, Sims. I've been the low man on Sanchez for quite some time. I don't think the command profile ever comes around, and he's never gotten outs past the 5th inning. In fact, he hasn't even thrown 100 innings in a season yet. It's hard to project how someone is going to turn a lineup over when they've never pitched tired. (Jordan Gorosh)
2014-06-05 14:00:00 (link to chat)Medical issues aside, would you rank Luis Ortiz above or below Lucas Sims, Miguel Almonte, and Daniel Norris?
(Silverback38 from VA)
I had Daniel Norris ranked higher than the other two Rule 4 eligible arms -- his issue as a HSer was finding consistency in his mechanics and executing his stuff. The raw grades were always borderline elite. I wasn't on Almonte as an international amateur, so it's tough for me to include him in the comparison. (Draft Day Chat with Nick J. Faleris)
2014-01-27 13:00:00 (link to chat)What do you see in Lucas Sims that others don't yet see? Do you suppose he's got a mid-2016 ETA?
(DH from Pittsburgh)
Not sure. His profile seems pretty clear to me: easy 91-95 FB with movement; hammer CB; feel for above-average CH; smooth delivery; athletic. Matt Cain isn't a far off comp. I think he has a chance to be very good. (Jason Parks on the Top 101 Prospects)
2014-02-18 14:00:00 (link to chat)What is Lucas Sims ceiling? Possible #1?
(Maxwell from Florida)
That's a bit bullish. There are only a handful of guys you can dream on becoming an ace. Sims is more of a No. 2 upside. (Ronit Shah)
2014-01-17 10:00:00 (link to chat)Who are a couple pitchers set to explode onto the prospect scene this season? Tirado and Edwin Diaz seem to be close, any others you are banking on?
(tjco1006 from Up n In Rehab Center)
Jose Martinez for the DBacks; Alex Reyes for the Cards; Paul Blackburn with the Cubs is ready to take a big step forward; Lucas Sims is still highly underrated as a prospect; Tyler Danish is an out-of-the-box candidate. Its unorthodox but don't write him off. (Jason Parks)
2014-01-02 13:00:00 (link to chat)Thanks for doing the chat, Craig! I play in a dynasty league where we are allowed to draft amateurs. Tyler Glasnow and Lucas Sims for Jacob Gatewood. Which side wins out?
(dbrosene from San Mateo, CA)
Take the pitchers. I like Gatewood a bunch, but they're that much closer to the majors and they are valuable properties in and of themselves. Gatewood isn't perfect as a prospect so go with the guys who are closer to providing value. (Craig Goldstein)
2013-11-25 13:00:00 (link to chat)Seems like most people have Lucas Sims ahead of J.R. Graham as Braves pitching prospects go. Are you with them? Is it close?
(dw from New York)
At this point, I'd rank Sims above Graham, but I'm still high on Graham. He should be healthy in 2014. (Jason Parks)
2013-09-04 13:00:00 (link to chat)Professor Parks, what are your thoughts on Lucas Sims, A.J. Cole & Miguel Almonte heading into the fall? Do you think all 3 have the chance to be role 6 type starters?
(kiper90 from Rochester, NY)
I do. The reports on Sims have been fantastic. Very good athlete with stuff and feel. THat's what you want to see. Cole doesn't get a lot of credit as a prospect. The combination of size, stuff, and projection still remaining is pretty fascinating. He's only 21-years-old and is still improving. Almonte is a fox. Love him. (Jason Parks)
2013-09-11 13:00:00 (link to chat)Did you put eyes on Mauricio Cabrera this year? Im assuming Lucas Sims has passed JR Graham (injury of course stunted/halted his year) as top arm in the braves system, but is the same true of Mauricio
(Chop Talk from ATL)
Did not see Mauricio Cabrera this year. I will say this: I'm going to try and make it to Jackson at least once per year. I enjoyed it this year and saw one hell of a series (healthy Graham, Wood, Bethancourt, Walker, Miller, etc.) Probably safe to say Sims has passed Graham. I really hope Graham is going to be fine health-wise overall, because the start I saw in mid-April was the best I saw any pitcher throw all season. (Jason Cole)
2013-08-14 13:00:00 (link to chat)I'm in a keeper league that includes a 12 player minor league roster for the future. I currently own Stetson Allie and Rafael De Paula, my question is would you drop either or both of them for any of the following players: Alex Dickerson, Franklin Barreto, Eddie Butler, Lucas Sims? Thanks for your help!
(Jeff from Kansas City)
I'd take all of those guys over Allie, and especially Butler and Sims. (Jason Cole)
2013-02-05 13:00:00 (link to chat)Can Lucas Sims zoom up the list like a Jose Fernandez?
(Mike from Utica, NY)
I just want to make fun of you for using the word "zoom" (Jason Parks)
