2014-07-07 11:00:00 (link to chat)What is a realistic comp for Eddie Rosario? Did his suspension take him out of consideration?
(fsumagic from Houston)
I just saw Rosario in game action and I wasn't all that impressed. He has bat speed and has an approach but I don't love the bat control or some of the swing decisions he makes. From LF, its a tough profile and I'm not sold the power is really going to show up.

But on that squad, I really like Kennys Vargas. That kid has 70 raw and I think some of it will come out to play. Legit power profile from both sides of the plate. (Jason Parks on the Top 50)
2014-06-24 13:00:00 (link to chat)Since his suspension the Twins have been playing Eddie Rosario in CF as well as 2b. Have you heard any word on how he's looked? Clearly he'll never be Hicks or Buxton with the glove, but will he be good enough to take over the placeholder role in MN until Buxton is ready? Santana is fun to watch, but he's no CF either.
(Cris E from St Paul, MN)
He's an OF all the way, but I'm not even a huge fan of the bat. It's kind of a tweener profile, and he may be relegated to a utility role. (Jordan Gorosh)
2014-05-27 11:30:00 (link to chat)Any word on Eddie Rosario's expected path as he returns from the Land Of Shame? Will he make it to MN this summer? Does Dozier's emergence end his 2B experiment?
(Cris E from St Paul, MN)
He's going to be an OF now, almost positively. Don't know if he makes it to MN in '14, but it certainly hurts his profile a bit that he won't be playing 2B. (Jordan Gorosh)
2014-02-26 19:00:00 (link to chat)In a 12 team dynasty 2 round prospect draft, I'm looking at taking a 2B. Which one will help more down the road: Eddie Rosario, Jonathan Schoop, or Mookie Betts?
(fsumagic from TX)
Rosario will likely be the best hitter of the bunch but I dunno if he sticks at 2B. I'll go with Schoop here. (Mauricio Rubio)
2014-02-10 13:00:00 (link to chat)Given your feelings on steady mgmt of youngsters, what would you do with Eddie Rosario this spring? After the suspension would you leave hit at 2b or send him back to LF to hit and keep advancing?
(Cris E from St Paul, MN)
He's an outfielder for me. (Jeff Moore)
2014-01-06 13:00:00 (link to chat)What do you think the 50 game suspension means for Eddie Rosario? I mean major league in general and ETA.
(Jacob from Minnesota)
It probably means the end of him as a 2B. He was fringy there as a defender anyway and needed all the reps he could get. If you've been following the Minor League Update, you've seen that he's been really terrible all winter, and even worse since the announcement of this suspension actually came down back in November. He's a 2015 guy at best, but there's some real questions about him. (Jeff Moore)
2013-12-17 13:00:00 (link to chat)Alen Hanson or Eddie Rosario?
(Fred from Minnesota)
Rosario (not super high on either, so its close) (Jason Parks)
2013-11-19 13:00:00 (link to chat)I have a dynasty league infield of Starlin, Lawrie, Gyorko, and Dunn, with Baez and Eddie Rosario waiting in the wings. What types of 1B would you target with the minor leaguers in a trade? Could I get a Freeman/Craig/Edwin Encarnacion type? Or do my existing infielders come with a high enough risk (Castro and Lawrie specifically) that I need to hold onto Baez and Rosario?
(TommyC from Illinois)
If you can get a good deal on one of those guys, go for it. But I wouldn't be so quick to deal away your depth with that infield. (Bret Sayre)
2013-11-19 13:00:00 (link to chat)apparently Eddie Rosario is being suspended 50 games according to some guy on twitter. FYI
(phin from interwebz)
That's not some guy on twitter, that's LaVelle Neal. If he's reporting it, it's got legs. (Bret Sayre)
2013-11-14 13:00:00 (link to chat)Thoughts on Eddie Rosario sticking at 2nd?
(richardkr34 from Saint Paul, MN)
I don't see it working. He's just not natural there. I think he ends up in the outfield. (Mark Anderson)
2013-11-08 14:00:00 (link to chat)What did you think of Eddie Rosario when you saw him? I was quite underwhelmed.
(Todd from MN)
I put a 52 on him, I think. He didn't have a great game for me--looked a little raw around second, flubbed an opportunity there. I liked his hit tool, but he seemed like a guy who's more interested in hitting for power, which doesn't seem like the best fit for his skills and body type. Lots of hand movement and big load. Think he could be a useful player if he tweaks his approach a bit. (Ben Lindbergh)
2013-09-04 13:00:00 (link to chat)Do you think Eddie Rosario is overrated?
(Lukene from Saint Paul)
He's overrated as a second baseman, that's for sure. I like the bat; the approach bothers me a little, but I like his swing and I think he will hit. I don't like his actions at 2B. I think he's a better fir for the outfield, but unless he changes orgs or changes his name to Buxton, he's not going to be patrolling center anytime soon. (Jason Parks)
2013-07-25 13:00:00 (link to chat)Hey Jason! Eddie Rosario has been shadowed big time by Buxton and Sano but is he the best 2B prospect in baseball?
(Chris from Minnesota)
He's not. I don't really like him as a 2B; he doesn't field the ball very well and I don't see a lot of feel at the position. I like his bat, but I don't love his approach (he thinks he's a power hitter and drops his back shoulder to launch balls that travel around 375 ft instead of 400 ft.). Give me Kolten Wong every day of the week over Rosario. Every day. (Jason Parks)
2013-05-16 13:00:00 (link to chat)Eddie Rosario a solid MLB 2nd basemen in a few years?
(Travis from Minnesota)
Yes. He can do what major leaguers do: hit. I say this a lot and I'm going to keep saying it until they run my out of this position at BP: Do you know what good hitters do? They f*cking hit. Rosario can hit. It's the most important carrying tool, and he possesses it. Discount him for other reasons, be it his power ceiling or defensive skill-set, but he can put his bat on a baseball, and that's the game. (Jason Parks)
2013-04-04 11:00:00 (link to chat)Has Eddie Rosario's outlook changed with a strong spring? Will he be playing 2B this season and did you get a chance to observe his defense?
(rsambrook from Vancouver)
I wasn't in Florida camp; spent the duration of Spring Training in AZ. But I did hear positive things on Rosario. He has tools; he's a player. I'm not sure what he ends up looking like, but he certainly looks like a future major leaguer. (Jason Parks)
2013-02-25 11:00:00 (link to chat)Can Eddie Rosario become an above-average defender at 2B?
(jdmurphy from New York)
I don't see it, but the raw tools make it a possibility. (Jason Parks on the Top 101 Prospects)
2013-03-08 13:00:00 (link to chat)Can Dorssys Paulino stick at short? if not, does he move to 2b or 3b? If its 2b, how does he compare offensively with Eddie Rosario?
(Kai from SLO)
I have no clue here, but Dorssys might be new favorite first name: 42.9% esses. There are no esses in my name. This fills me with sadnessssssssss. (Geoff Young)
2012-05-21 14:00:00 (link to chat) I see how Eddie Rosario is doing with his hitting - but how is the change to 2B coming along - do you think he will he be at least an average big league second baseman?
(SenatorsGuy from RFK)
You know what? He's been OK there. It not time to call it a rousing success, but there's every reason to keep trying it. (Kevin Goldstein)
2012-04-04 13:00:00 (link to chat)What's your take on Eddie Rosario, can he make it at 2nd and what is his ceiling?
(Mike from Utica, NY)
I think he can handle 2B; athleticism is present/enough arm/awareness. I think his ceiling is probably a solid-average regular with a chance for more if the bat reaches its potential. Not a superstar. (Jason Parks)
2012-02-13 13:00:00 (link to chat)Could you see Eddie Rosario being a .300-25-90 guy at his peak, if things break right?
(Chad from Buffalo Grove)
I don't see him hitting 25. More like 15-20, and I rarely project .300 for anyone. (Kevin Goldstein)
