DateQuestionAnswer
2014-03-27 13:00:00 (link to chat)Is Logan Forsythe like a mini-me version of Ben Zobrist? How do you see them using Forsythe and is he being groomed as Zorilla's eventual replacement?
(Jake from Kalamazoo)
There are some similarities (defensive versatility, good approaches, well-rounded skill sets) but Forsythe has to prove he can hit righties and stay healthy before we get too far ahead of ourselves here. (R.J. Anderson)
2014-02-13 13:00:00 (link to chat)Nate Karns or Jesse Hahn?
(Danny from Boston)
Looks like the details of that Rays-Nats swap are coming in, so we've got a few Qs on that front.

This is a fun one because the Rays just traded Jesse Hahn (and Alex Torres) for Logan Forsythe and a grab bag of prospects a month ago, and now they've traded Jose Lobaton (and a grab bag of prospects) for Nick Karns.

Hahn and Karns are similar in a few senses: both were college arms, both have injury histories, both have two good pitches, and so on. Even their outlooks are a lot alike: possible MOR arm or impact bullpen guy. I guess it comes down to the medicals, and without knowing which is better, I'll just call them evenish. (R.J. Anderson)
2013-06-20 13:00:00 (link to chat)hey is Logan Forsythe worth the add. I am looking to have a versatile bench in case of injuries or slumps.
(RLewis from Home)
It really depends on league, but he is a guy that both Collette and I like. (Paul Sporer)
2013-02-15 12:00:00 (link to chat)Who are 3-5 guys you are really expecting fantasy breakouts from this year?
(Sexy Rexy from At Work)
Erasmo Ramirez, Logan Forsythe, Alex Cobb (Jason Collette)
2013-03-08 13:00:00 (link to chat)The Padres seem to have a glut of super utility players this season, who makes the roster and who is out? I'd like to see Blanks make it but that probably means Guzman is gone. Does Forsythe have a shot at being the everyday SS? I love his bat. Thanks!
(Kyle from San Francisco, CA)
Hi Kyle. I agree with your assessment of Blanks and Guzman. They fill the same need. Guzman has done it, but I cling to the hope that Blanks still has untapped potential. I'm not sold on Logan Forsythe as an everyday shortstop. It'd be fantastic if he can do it, because he has nice on-base skills, but it seems to me he's a bit stretched defensively at that spot. (Geoff Young)
2013-02-26 14:00:00 (link to chat)Do you think J. Gyorko starts at 2b for the Pads on opening day? Are you a believer in his bat and ability to stick at 2b?
(Jay from Madison)
I'm a bigger believer in his bat than in his glove at 2B, but with 3B occupied by Chase Headley, the Padres will give him a shot to prove that he can handle the keystone. I'll tentatively say that Logan Forsythe is the favorite for Opening Day, but that could change in the coming weeks. Keep an eye on Jason Martinez's daily Minor League Update for the latest on that battle. (Daniel Rathman)
2013-01-22 13:00:00 (link to chat)Thanks for the chat, R.J. Please rank the following infielders by 2013 fantasy upside: Josh Rutledge, Logan Forsythe, Jed Lowrie, Everth Cabrera, Chris Nelson, Adeiny Hechavarria, and Donovan Solano.
(Todd from Oakland)
Hey Todd,

I'm not too good at fantasy (as Marc Normandin can attest) but I'd rank 'em something like:

Lowrie - Hurt often but probably the best hitter of the bunch
Cabrera - Should swipe a ton of bags and he has the positional advantage over Forsythe
Rutledge - Not as good as last year but he can hit and that park will help
Forsythe - Park hurts
Nelson - Park should help
Solano - I think I undersold him last year, but I don't know that I can put him higher
Hechavarria - Not sold that he's a fantasy contributor (R.J. Anderson)
2013-01-16 13:30:00 (link to chat)What do you think about Logan Forsythe? I feel he can be a deep sleeper for fantasy owners next year. What kind of line can I expect from him?
(Nick from San Diego)
He's an interesting player. I guess it depends on the type of league stats you're using. His biggest value is tied to his ability to control the strike zone and work counts. He can hit for a solid average but doesn't have much pop behind it. He's of limited value to me from a fantasy perspective. (Mark Anderson)
2012-07-20 13:00:00 (link to chat)Come August 1, Gyorko will be playing (position) in (city), while Headley will be playing (position) in (city).
(dianagram from NYC)
My crystal ball shows Gyorko splitting time between second and third at Tucson, with Headley remaining at the hot corner in San Diego. Gyorko probably could come up and contribute right now, but Headley is a better third baseman and the Padres won't move him unless they are overwhelmed by an offer. Meanwhile, they need to continue evaluating Alexi Amarista and Logan Forsythe at second. It's a bit of a logjam, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. (Geoff Young)
