2010-11-09 14:00:00How much more rope would you give a guy like Michael Main who has always been high on athleticism but long on health/results? Does he even sniff the Giants Top 11?
(Aaron from YYZ)
No sniff. His stuff was WAY down this year. WAY, way down. (Kevin Goldstein)
2010-07-06 14:00:00What do you think of the prospect Michael Main, that the Giants got in the Bengie Molina deal.
(Brian from SF)
In BP 2010, we wrote, "One of the highest high-ceiling arms in the system, athletic righty Michael Main suffered through most of 2009 with an undiagnosed illness, but he's healthy and expected to be back to form this spring." The 90+ innings he's throw in the California League this season seem to bear out that statement, but we'll see how he survives the AA crucible. (Ben Lindbergh)
2009-12-11 13:00:00How are you feeling about Michael Main and Engel Beltre heading into next season?
(ramjam36 from Fort Worth, TX)
By all accounts, Main will be healthy so I'm very optimistic. Beltre has the tools, so I'm somwhat optimistic, based on age, but at some point he HAS to make adjustments are it's going to be all wasted. (Kevin Goldstein)
2009-07-15 14:00:00Word is that Michael Main is now out for the year. Do you know why he's out -- I thought he had mono -- and does he now go into non-prospect status since health is a skill?
(Lincoln from Dallas)
He was initially diagnosed with mono, but he's back to being undiagnosed last I checked. It's really kind of a mystery at this point, and you just hope they figure it out. (Kevin Goldstein)
2009-02-16 14:00:00Hey KG, Who is a guy who you wouldn't be surprised to shoot up the chart for next year? Last year you said Cris Tillman (pat on the back)
(fellajsmall from Atlanta)
I did? That's awesome. I'll go with three categories this year then.
25-50 guy who could move into single digits: Aaron Hicks
51-75 guy who could make a big jump: Michael Main
76-100 guy who will look WAY too low a year from now: Kyle Drabek (Kevin Goldstein)
2008-08-13 14:00:00Michael Main has looked pretty good in the MWL since getting a late start this year due to injury. Do you envision a "Feliz" type of ascension to AA next year if he keeps it up? Are they even in the same class as far as ceiling goes?
(AL from NYC)
I love when my readers set me up -- Part 2 of the scouting notebook (on Friday) features a discussion on Main. (Kevin Goldstein)
