2012-11-20 13:00:00 (link to chat)Jason, even with Iwakuma's re-signing, it still feels like the M's still need to address the rotation. What are your thoughts on Jon Lester, and what kind of cost would be attached to trading for him?
(Tom from Seattle)
I see Seattle lying in the weeds on rotation upgrades. If they need the cash, they can try and trade Vargas and the $8 mil or so he'll get in arbitration and toss that at another arm, but the focus has to be offense and that is where most of the assets have to be spent this winter. It won't be a perfect team, even if they get the bats they want the most, but they'll be well on their way. Unrelated note, Seattle just traded Trayvon Robinson to Baltimore for Robert Andino. World Series. (Jason A. Churchill)
2012-11-20 13:00:00 (link to chat)Thoughts on the Andino for Trayvon Robinson trade?
(Wes from Canada)
Good deal for both teams. Depth move, but it works. (Jason A. Churchill)
2011-06-21 13:00:00 (link to chat)Will the Dodgers ever let Trayvon Robinson have his shot at their revolving door OF spot and if so, when??? Thanks...
(LoyalRoyal from LV, KS)
Yes, I think so. This year, and it's possible we could see him before the All-Star Break if Tony Gwynn, Marcus Thames, and crew don't perform. And let's be honest, it's pretty likely they won't. Trayvon is absolutely destroying Triple-A right now, so I'd think we'll see him sooner rather than later. (Derek Carty)
2011-06-21 13:00:00 (link to chat)Hi Derek. Callups such as Moustakas and Ackley have recently deposed primary starters for teams. Which other current players do you see as short-timers in their starting line-up? One specific Q: Johnny Gia for Getz anytime soon? Thanks...
(LoyalRoyal from LV, KS)
I think we'll see Johnny Giavotella this season, but the Royals may look to extract some value via trade out of a guy like Getz beforehand. Other guys to look for in the near-term include Trayvon Robinson, Jason Kipnis, and Dayan Viciedo. There's talk Wily Mo Pena will get the call this week to DH and could force himself into the OF picture in Arizona if he hits. (Derek Carty)
2011-06-14 13:00:00 (link to chat)Don't know about true length of the film, but I watched How To Make an American Quilt with my then fiancee (not sure what I did to get that deep into the doghouse). It felt like the longest movie ever! Are the Dodgers ever going call Trayvon Robinson up??? Thanks...
(LoyalRoyal from LV, KS)
Your then-fiancee, huh? So did you break up with her over being subjected to the movie, or marry her? If the latter, I hope it's been smoother sailing since then.

As for your question, I just heard this from Kevin Goldstein: "at some point in the 2nd half." (Ben Lindbergh)
2011-04-07 13:00:00 (link to chat)Wouldn't Jerry Sands at RF, Trayvon Robinson at LF and Andre Ethier at 1B be a drastic improvement for the Dodgers?
(Scott from Irvine)
Robinson has more than a year at Double-A under his belt, so he's got that over Sands. The problem is that the projections don't exactly paint either as above-average contributors at key offensive positions, so expecting both to break in at the major league level and succeed right now is a tall, tall order. And that's without considering how little experience at first base Ethier has. (Jay Jaffe)
2011-03-17 13:00:00 (link to chat)Serious question now. When do you realistically see Jerry Sands getting the call and making the team outside of a Sept. cup of coffee? 2012 reasonable?
(EephusBlue from San Francisco)
I'm a big fan of Jerry Sands, but I think his timeframe is more going to be decided by the big league team. Hey, maybe you can actually get a decent left fielder out of JaMarcus Gwybbons, Jr., and maybe James Loney decides to act like he's really a useable MLB first baseman again.

I don't have a lot of confidence in either of those things happening, unfortunately. I think there's a 95% chance Sands sees MLB service sometime this year, and probably even before September. My money's on June, with an eye towards him being the fulltime 1B or LF (this also depends on Trayvon Robinson) in 2012. (Mike Petriello)
2011-03-08 14:00:00 (link to chat)Jay Gibbons. Really?? What do you think are the chances that the Dodgers call up Trayvon Robinson or Jerry Sands around June?
(bfitzge3 from Upstate NY)
What, no love for Marcus Thames and Tony Gwynn? Gotta figure one of those two prospects ends up out there as soon as they prove they've conquered Triple-A (and once they lose future Super-2 status!). (Cory Schwartz)
2011-01-03 14:00:00 (link to chat)The mystery Top 101 guy ... if a Dodger, is it Trayvon Robinson?
(Prospect Guesser from NYC)
Actually, he IS in the Top 101, but I don't think that should be a surprise. (Kevin Goldstein)
2010-04-08 14:00:00 (link to chat)What are people telling you about Dodgers speedster Trayvon Robinson? Will he be a quality hitter (.275/.345/.450) or more of a Xavier Paul? Over/under on him on 2011's Top 101?
(Sanchez101 from Santa Barbara, CA)
If he can prove that last year was real and not a product of the Cal League, he'll be in the Top 101. He has far better overall tools than Paul, but the amount of swing-and-miss in his game is a definite issue. (Kevin Goldstein)
