2015 After throwing 1,000 innings over 10 minor-league seasons, including solid work last year in Triple-A, soft-tossing Yohan Pino made his major-league debut and took 11 forgettable turns in the Minnesota rotation before earning his release at season's end; we're sure there's a lesson about fortitude in there somewhere.
2010 The PTBNL in the Pavano trade, last year Yohan Pino rebounded after two shaky seasons in Double-A. He could provide future benefits as a middle reliever.
2008 Pino is one of several Twins pitchers who struggled upon promotion to Double-A last year. In his case, it wasn't a huge surprise. He's tall and skinny and just doesn't have much in the way of stuff; his fastball sits in the mid to upper 80s and he spins a merely decent curve. What separates him from most is his outstanding command. Unfortunately, even with precise location, you still need a little giddy-up to get it by big-league hitters.
2007 Right-hander Yohan Pino put up great numbers at Low-A as both a starter and reliever, and concerns about his marginal fastball have been lessened a bit by an outstanding performance against more advanced hitters in the Venezuelan Winter League.

2014-07-08 13:00:00 (link to chat)With Nolasco's injury and Yohan Pino's 15 minutes almost up, do you see Trevor May and Alex Meyer making their debuts soon? What can we expect from them?
(Jim from Kansas)
I think both will be up in Minnesota in the second half of the season. I've always been much higher on Meyer than I have May. To me, Meyer has always been a starter and a quality 2/3 starter at that. I've never been that enamored with May's long term outlook, and never saw the high-end arm that some did. To me, he's more of a #4 starter; still valuable but not nearly as impressive as some would lead you to believe. (Mark Anderson)
