2009-07-07 13:00:00Other than Blyleven, which pitchers do you feel are/were snubbed for the Hall? Morris? The various relievers? Someone I'm missing?
(strupp from madison)
Wes Ferrell's got a good case as far as the Vet Committee goes. Lee Smith has a decent case among the relievers. Morris didn't come close to preventing enough runs to merit further consideration.

The real cases that get me going are among the non-300 winners upcoming, the aforementioned Smoltz, Schilling, Mussina, Martinez contingent. I think all of them should be in when the time comes, but I'm not sure the electorate will see it that way. (Jay Jaffe)
2009-01-22 13:00:00Are there any pre-WWII players you're cheering for in the Veterans Committee process?
(BL from Bozeman)
When the VC ballot came around in December I took a look via JAWS (http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=8353) and among the pre-WWII players I came up with Bill Dahlen, Wes Ferrell and Bucky Walters as Hallworthy. I'd particularly like to see the first two get in sooner or later. (Jay Jaffe)

2009-10-12 15:00:00Phillies/Rockies Playoffs RoundtablePerhaps because it doesn't work both ways. We're smart enough now to know that the Hafeys and Averills got pushed into the Hall because of inflated 20s and 30s stats, but that knowledge doesn't give Wes Ferrell a boost in. Similarly, it may punish Helton but doesn't diminish Koufax much. (Steven Goldman)
