2011-05-12 13:00:00 (link to chat)Which bobblehead in your extensive collection is your least favorite? Do you treat it differently than the others? Has this stunted its development? Do you feel badly about that?
(The Common Man from Parts Unknown)
Let's be clear. My bobblehead collection is merely a function of always attending Sunday afternoon games at Miller Park, when they give out the bobbles.

That said, the Chorizo bobblehead is clearly the best while the Jeff Suppan bobblehead hasn't even seen the light of day... (Larry Granillo)
2011-04-12 13:00:00 (link to chat)To borrow from Joe Morgan.. Kyle Davies has been consistently inconsistent throughout his career. When will the Royals decide to cut bait with him and could you see him latching on with another team?
(kcroyalsguy from KCMO)
Where have you gone, Joe Morgan? A blogosphere turns its lonely eyes to you. The Royals will bid Davies goodbye as soon as they have enough young pitching in the majors to avoid doing things like signing Jeff Suppan. That day could come as soon as next season, and I don't foresee a bright future for him after that. (Ben Lindbergh)
2010-09-15 14:00:00 (link to chat)Got a snap post-mortem on what went so wrong with St. Louis in the last month? I understand small sample size regression to the mean, but why so many regressions all at once, and why were none of them for the better?
(Bill from New Mexico)
They are a stars and scrubs roster, and when the stars struggle even a little bit, it is very tough to compete. Pitching Jeff Suppan more than zero times hurt, and not playing Rasmus everyday made little sense. I can't get on La Russa for all of this either, as his roster is complete with players like Brendan Ryan, Skip Schumaker, Jon Jay, Felipe Lopez, etc. The Cardinals, like the Mariners this year, needed to have a lot go right for them to have a great season; while everything went wrong with the Mariners, the Cards had some go right, enough to keep them in contention, but not enough to push them into the playoffs. (Eric Seidman)
2010-05-24 14:00:00 (link to chat)Are you as excited as I am with the Brewers recent infusion of bullpen talent?
(Jeff from Topanga)
I think it's a matter of relative improvement. The Brewers have been getting by for so long by retreading journeymen--Brian Shouse, Todd Coffey, Claudio Vargas, Mark DiFelice--that seeing actual upside-oriented prospects like Axford or Braddock enter the picture certainly brings new meaning to the term 'sweet relief.' How effective they are is something we'll have to see, but it all beats Jeff Suppan. Not that everything doesn't beat Jeff Suppan, but you know what I mean. (Christina Kahrl)
2009-06-05 15:30:00 (link to chat)Just got a tweet that Albert Pujols and Prince Fielder would like to have a word with you regarding your comments about the Cubs. Why is it more likely that they and their buddies will crater than that the Cubs will continuing being what they've been?
(Bill from New Mexico)
In my opinion, the Cardinals need every single start from Chris Carpenter from here on out to have a fighting chance at the playoffs. And as far as the Brewers go, I mentioned earlier that acquiring a top-tier pitcher might actually put them ahead of the Cubs. But I get a bit wary when I see that four of their five rotation spots are filled by the underachieving Dave Bush, back-end extraordinaire Braden Looper, the disappointing Manny Parra, and the hang-it-up-already Jeff Suppan. (Eric Seidman)
2009-02-10 14:00:00 (link to chat)Hi Christina, what is your initial reaction to Braden Looper going to Milwaukee?
(John from Fiji)
Jeff Suppan 2.0 should be able to give them a moderate number of winnable ballgames. It won't be enough to put them in better shape for the NL Wild Card. (Christina Kahrl)
2008-04-29 14:00:00 (link to chat)other pitchers availible are, Dontrelle Willis,Ted Lilly,Francisco Liriano, Tom Gorzelanny, Ubaldo Jiménez, Jarrod Washburn, Jeff Suppan, Jamie Moyer, Shawn Chacón, Shawn Hill, Kevin Millwood, Andy Sonnanstine, See anything in there you like better the Hughes?
(dogtothedog from Toronto)
Sonnanstine's intriguing. Lilly's using the wrong pitches, from what I can tell. I like Gorzelanny, but I'd like him more if he'd stop hurting my own team's numbers. I'd take Sonnanstine for now, honestly. Phil Hughes is all kinds of messed up at the moment.

Sonnanstine's using a cutter more this year, probably to offset the number of fastballs in the zone hitters knew were coming in '07. It hasn't helped his strikeout rate, but he's lowered the number of base hits he's allowing. That's a tough crowd of FA, I'll give you that... (Marc Normandin)
