2017-02-14 12:00:00 (link to chat)It seems lately following low minor SS's is fun. Heading into this season some names of interest are Miguelangel Sierra and Fernando Tatis Jr. I am not sure how to interpret their performances from last year and what to expect. Care to hit us with some knowledge on these players to make a informed decision?
(David from Not Sure)
Sierra's a polished glove, good shot to stick, the power was more Appy elevation than actual raw pop and he's gonna need some refinement at the plate. Tats is less likely to stick, but has more offensive upside. We actually had a fun internal conversation about it Tatito was Vladito and vice versa, what their respective national profiles would be.

My lightning round isn't much quicker is it? (The Top 101 Prospect Chat with Jeffrey Paternostro)
2017-02-06 23:00:00 (link to chat)Yo Wilson. It seems a smart move is to draft low minor SS. Heading into this season some early targets on my list are Miguelangel Sierra and Fernando Tatis Jr. I am not sure how to interpret their performances from last year and what to expect. Care to hit us with some knowledge on these players to make a informed decision?

Sierra is a kid we got great internals on during list-making. I wouldn't get too caught up in the Appy HR total, as he was appropriately exposed as Not Manny Ramirez in the NYPL. But he's got the goods to develop into a real good SS, with a stick to be valuable at the position. Tatis is veeeery likely a 3B, and he's already shown a bunch of aggressive swing-and-miss, but there's a quality fantasy bat in here somewhere. Always bet on big-league bloodlines when in doubt, and take a last-round flyer if your league goes 175-200 deep - maaaybe 150 if you're feeling salty? (Wilson Karaman)
2017-02-21 13:00:00 (link to chat)Yo George. It seems a smart move is to draft low minor SS. Hey there. Um. I have irrational love for Bo Bichette. It's always difficult to assess hitters in the low minors that are nearly half a decade away from the majors. I think you have to start off by gauging the defense. Can this hitter stick at shortstop? If yes, then it becomes about future projection, not necessarily scouting the stat-line. Park factors and environments matter too. (George Bissell)
