2014-07-08 13:00:00 (link to chat)Heading to Arizona this week and have a chance to see some rookie league games. Who are the most promising guys to take a look at out there?
(Steve from NJ)
If you can manage to catch a Ricardo Sanchez start, do yourself a favor and make it happen. Other names to look for are Alex Jackson, Eloy Jimenez, Michael Gettys, Gleybar Torres, Luiz Gohara, and just have some fun looking around at young guys you've never heard of and may see something interesting with. (Mark Anderson)
2014-07-08 13:00:00 (link to chat)if you had to try to pick one lottery ticket....Francisco Mejia, Ricardo Sanchez, Luiz Gohara, Jose Martinez, Franchy Cordero or Rafael Devers? Sanchez looks good but there can be some many variables from then till now, or can he take the Urias track?
(Fred from Still here)
Sanchez isn't going to be on the Urias track. he's not nearly polished enough to make those kinds of moves over the next year.

Of that group, I'd hang my hat on Devers as the one lottery ticket to pay off. He could be a complete beast. (Mark Anderson)
2014-04-03 19:30:00 (link to chat)Thoughts on either Edwin Diaz and/or Luiz Gohara in regard to their respective ceilings?
(kfazio from WV)
I like Edwin more. Obviously the Mariners top 10 lists their ceilings and you should absolutely check those out because Parks and co. do a great job and know more than I do. I think they're both middle rotation guys but I like Diaz's profile a bit more. (Craig Goldstein)
2014-01-27 13:00:00 (link to chat)Which prospect that didn't make the list has the highest upside?
(japem from Earth)
Luiz Gohara has a case for highest ceiling that didn't make the list. (Jason Parks on the Top 101 Prospects)
2014-01-27 13:00:00 (link to chat)A few prospects that blow up the rankings next year.
(Wade from Road House bar)
Alex Reyes, David Dahl, Francisco Mejia ,Jose Martinez, Luiz Gohara, Edwin Diaz, Jorge Alfaro, Reese McGuire, Jose Ortiz (Jason Parks on the Top 101 Prospects)
2014-01-02 13:00:00 (link to chat)What 80's celebrity couple is Luiz Gohara the love child of?
(Trevor Bauer from NY)
Erik Estrada and a water buffalo (Craig Goldstein)
2013-09-11 13:00:00 (link to chat)What prospect are you most looking forward to seeing in Instructs?
(Chad from OKC)
Oh wow. Well...I would like to try and finally get a look at Luiz Gohara in game action. I was supposed to see him vs. Yohander Mendez in extended spring, but as luck would have it, Gohara got food poisoning or something and was a late scratch. I want to see more of the Giants top picks (Arroyo/Jones). The Rangers' July 2 haul. I thought the DBacks draft guys this year were all really intriguing so them as well. Can I just say "everything"? (Jason Cole)
2013-08-14 13:00:00 (link to chat)Jason, I know they are extremely young & far away from the show but any thoughts on Tyler Glasnow, Luiz Gohara & Julio Urias? Are all 3 possibly role 7 pitchers as there ceilings?
(kiper90 from Rochester, NY)
Like you said, they're all a long way away with serious risk (especially Gohara), but very good ceilings. Urias has been really exciting this year. Flirting mid-90s in every start from the left side with a feel for pitching and a very advanced changeup. (Jason Cole)
2013-08-08 17:30:00 (link to chat)I know they are extremely young & far away from the show but any thoughts on Julio Urias & Luiz Gohara & what there ceilings maybe?
(kiper90 from Rochester)
Julio Urias' numbers look terrific for a 16-year-old. He has an ace's ceiling, but he could be a #4-5. He's a long way off. Gohara's in rookie ball. Impressive for a 17-year-old, but he's in rookie ball. The Magic 8-ball says ask again later. (Mike Gianella)
2013-07-25 13:00:00 (link to chat)Professor Parks, who would you rather have in your system, Tyler Glasnow or Luiz Gohara?
(kiper90 from Rochester, NY)
Glasnow. Safer. Good ceiling. (Jason Parks)
2013-07-19 13:00:00 (link to chat)Happy Friday, Paul. Excited about the prospect of your pitching website. Recently added Julio Urias and Luiz Gohara as long-term investments for dynasty league with ten slots for minors. Any possibility of either tracking Felix Hernandez?
(nictaclacta from Phoenix)
Waaaaaaaaaay early for that, but the fun of prospects is dreaming big. You have a looooooooong wait ahead of you, but plenty of dreaming! (Paul Sporer)
2013-06-13 13:00:00 (link to chat)DO you know where Luiz Gohara is and when he'll debut ?
(Ernie from Seattle)
Gohara pitched at extended spring training in Arizona. I was going to watch him in a sexy matchup against the Rangers' Yohander Mendez while I was out there, but Gohara got scratched that day because he was sick. Tough luck for me. I didn't end up seeing him. Not sure where he'll debut. I could see anywhere from the AZL to Everett, with Pulaski being the most likely. But that's a shot-in-the-dark guess. (Jason Cole)
2013-05-02 13:00:00 (link to chat)Anything recent on Jairo Beras?
(TPX2 from Taiwan)
I'm currently planning an extended spring training trip for late May, and I'll see Beras out there. The early word I've gotten is that Beras has been a little better in extended games than he was in instructs and spring training. The power potential is totally legit, but there's a lot to work out in that swing before he's able to have success in games. I'll have more after I get to extended, but he's definitely headed for a short-season club when that suspension is up in early July.

I also have to see the Mariners' Luiz Gohara when I'm out there for extended. As I wrote in the first Monday Morning Ten Pack of the season, he's a guy that I'm making a priority to see. (Jason Cole)
2013-04-04 11:00:00 (link to chat)Luiz Gohara: what excites you about him?
(Short Shorts from Venice Beach)
His arm is very fast and the release is very easy. The body is high-maintenance, but it makes it work at present. The fastball is lively and has serious zip, and he already shows good feel for repeating and hitting the target. He can spin a breaking ball and has a changeup, so he's way ahead of the curve for his age/level of development. (Jason Parks)
2013-04-04 11:00:00 (link to chat)Which Seattle prospect gets on your top 100 next year? If both, who is higher: Gabriel Guerrero or Luiz Gohara?
(Robert from Seattle)
Guerrero might be a better prospect in 2013 because he's ready to take on full-season ball. Gohara will be slower out of the gate, but substantial as a prospect once he starts putting together starts. (Jason Parks)
2013-04-04 11:00:00 (link to chat)Luiz Gohara and Miguel Almonte walk into a bar....
(Mike from Utica, NY)
They get carded and kicked out. (Jason Parks)
2013-02-19 13:00:00 (link to chat)can you give your evaluation of recently signed international prospects Luiz Gohara (SEA) and Jose Castillo (TB)?
(Kai from SLO)
I really can't, unfortunately. I haven't seen either, and I'm not trained to scout mature professional players, let alone 16-year-old ones. I can, however, refer you to what Jason Parks wrote about Gohara here. (Ben Lindbergh)
