Ronny Henriquez

Born: 06/20/2000 (Age: 19)
Bats: Right Throws: Right
Height: 5' 10" Weight: 155
Mechanics
Short with small frame but broad shoulders; limited but existent physical projection remaining. Good athleticism allows him to repeat his delivery well for his age. Simple motion, loads on back leg and hides the ball with half his back to the hitter a la Deivi García. Fast arm whips through at high 3/4 release.

Pitch Type Future Grade Sitting Velocity Peak Velocity Report
Fastball 60 93-96 97 Holds velo well into later innings with occasional dips, flashes life and late sink which combined with speed makes for a plus projection. Saw him get knocked out early a couple times when he couldn't command it and the pitch is straight enough that he can get in trouble if he leaves it middle-up too many times. Saw him in the post-season and command was better to the arm-side especially, but could still be hit if he pounded one spot too many times. Got a lot of soft contact on pitches up and in to hitters in both boxes.
Slider 55 82-84 85 Flashes above-average to plus with sharp, late bite. Very good depth, horizontal action less significant. Flattens out too often at present, especially later in outings.
Splitter 55 87-89 89 Projects well but application is inconsistent at present. Have seen flash plus with excellent dive but rarely; generally more subtle dive/fade that gets swings and misses at current level due to convincing arm action.
Overall

There's definite reliever risk with Henríquez, but it is too early to label him as such, even with the physicality what it is. Potential for at least three above-average pitches paired with a sound delivery leave the future starter door wide open for the time being. There's a ways to go with the command and the durability will be questioned until it is proven, but he's certainly acquitted himself pretty well as a teenager in full-season ball.
