Hit 55 Quick-twitch hands with plus bat speed projection. Loose but explosive stroke. Line-drive path. Big-time athlete at the plate with room to make adjustments. Covers the plate well and has an advanced feel for the barrel.
Power 40 Slight frame and line-drive approach knock the power projection. He'll run into extra bases. Explosive actions but limited raw power.
Baserunning/Speed 70 Weapon down the line and on the basepaths. Run is the standout tool. Consistent 60-70 home-to-first times. Speed will remain as he ages.
Glove 60 High-level athleticism translates to the glove. Plus range at shortstop. Advanced feel with the glove. Typical growth coming for hands and feel. More than enough to stick at short. Has athleticism to play all over.
Arm 60 Easy carry from left side of the field. Quick release and average accuracy.
Overall

Nunez is a spring riser, but it’s not a total surprise for those who followed him from his early prep days. He’s always had the quick-twitch advantage and explosive actions at the plate with a feel to hit, not to mention the standout run, glove and arm tools. The question has always been the strength. He’s strong for his stature but won’t reach the middle of the power scale and there have been concerns that the bat will be too light to maximize the hit. He’s shown better pop off the barrel lately and has put himself in first-round conversations. The profile looks the part of a solid utility player with strong contributions in batting average, on the basepaths and all over the field.
