For All You Kids Out There

In May 2016, Jeffrey Paternostro and Jarrett Seidler recorded a three-hour, rambling podcast about the first month of Mets baseball and an improbable Bartolo Colon home run. Thus, For All You Kids Out There, an overly intellectual, late night cocktail lounge conversation between two lifelong Mets fans was born. With thirteen years of prospect writing (and sixty years of pulling out hair out watching Mets baseball) combined, we cover everything from the low minors to the majors, trades and free agent signings, and other assorted weird Metropolitan ephemera.

Episode 280: "Life is too short to spend the rest of it down here in Tampa"

May 17th, 2021

In Episode 280 of For All You Kids Out There, Jeffrey and Jarrett take a scenic tour of Syracuse’s roster as the Mets deal with another spate of injuries. There’s also plenty of Phillies talk, and Jarrett just sort of wanders off to monologue about pitching evaluation for the last 15 minutes of the first half of the show. In the third half of the show we discuss the first two weeks in the Mets minors and answer your correspondence.

Episode

Episode 279: "This is the stupidest week in Mets history, a record that will be broken by every subsequent week in Mets history"

May 10th, 2021

In Episode 279 of For All You Kids Out There, Jeffrey and Jarrett go day-by-day, blow-by-blow over the week that was for the Metropolitans. Donnie, Q, injuries, a good bullpen(?), rats, raccoons, opossums, definitely not media criticism, and some live Jacob deGrom start thoughts dot the first half. The third half brings your correspondence, some AEW thoughts, and a long digression or two.

Episode

Episode 278: "Donnie, you’re out of your element"

May 3rd, 2021

In Episode 278 of For All You Kids Out There, Jeffrey, Thomas, and Allison go up and down the Mets lineup to try and diagnose what’s going on. Is fighting with the Phillies a fix? Or perhaps the mysterious Donnie Stevenson? Then in the second half of the show we preview the Mets minor league season, even though we only have half the rosters. Finally we wrap up with some correspondence and some AAA and UFC thoughts.

Episode

Episode 277: "A Canha-adjacent podcast"

April 26th, 2021

In Episode 277 of For All You Kids Out There, we have your weekly Mark Canha update, thoughts on what to do with J.D. Davis, the conundrum that is Luis Rojas as manager, and a brand new but probably mostly the same Sean Reid-Foley. We also answer your correspondence on best baseball eras, more managerial malfeasance, and get galaxy-brained about the third base situation, before wrapping by trying to predict exactly how long Blood and Guts will run.

Episode

Episode 276: "A Marlins-adjacent podcast?"

April 19th, 2021

In Episode 276 of For All You Kids Out There, Jeffrey and Jarrett discuss the latest problems with the Mets organizational culture, a good week overall on the field, one bad fifth inning in Denver, and the state of the rest of the NL East. In the third half of the show we discuss fastball grading again, and then answer your questions on the Mets bullpen before wrapping with a longer wrestling portion of the show than Jeffrey was planning.

Episode

Episode 275: "Ten minute Jazz interlude"

April 11th, 2021

In Episode 275 of For All You Kids Out There, Jeffrey and Jarrett have new Mets baseball to talk about. Only one problem: It’s a lot like old Mets baseball. It’s the same old podcast for sure as we talk about Jazz Chisholm Jr. for ten minutes in there as well. Then in the third half of the show we answer your correspondence and (Jarrett) briefly reviews Night One of Wrestlemania.

Episode

Episode 274: "Baseball season will be starting soon, but we have no baseball team here"

April 5th, 2021

In Episode 274 of For All You Kids Out There, the Mets season is delayed so we chat about the baseball we have been watching instead. We also answer your questions on the Lindor deal, a Lindor plaque, pitching evaluation, and the best Mets defenders.

Episode

Episode 273: "Four inflatable rabbits worth"

April 1st, 2021

The Mets have signed Francisco Lindor. It happened, Thomas. Oh, Thomas is here. Plus the people wanted lo-fi David Roth. They get lo-fi David Roth.

Episode

Episode 272: "The podcast before the breaking news podcast"

March 29th, 2021

In Episode 272 of For All You Kids Out There, Jeffrey and Jarrett discuss the Francisco Lindor extension that has not yet been signed, the Michael Conforto extension that likely won’t be signed and some late breaking roster news in the first half of the show. In the second half of the show we are joined by David Roth of Defector Media to preview the Mets bullpen. There may be more actual 2021 bullpen talk in the first half, less New Jersey and Detroit Tigers talk though. Then in the third half of the show we answer your correspondence, but mostly argue about how good Michael Conforto is.

Episode

Episode 271: "The usual laser-focused show"

March 21st, 2021

In Episode 271 of For All You Kids Out There, Jeffrey and Jarrett believe in truth in advertising, so see the title. Jeffrey introduces the show a full 12 minutes in (which is not a record mind you, but still) after a discussion of Jacob deGrom shoving in spring and how to grade Dustin May’s fastball. We eventually get into the Carlos Carrasco injury, Lindor and Conforto extension news, and whether either of us will be headed to Citi Field anytime soon. Then in the second half of the show, we chat with Anthony Rescan of Baseball Prospectus, ostensibly about the Mets catching situation but there’s also some Bobby Witt, jr and Andrew Vaughn in there as well. Finally in the third half of the show we wrap up with some brief New Japan and AEW thoughts.

Episode

March 15th, 2021

In Episode 270 of For All You Kids Out There, Jeffrey and Thomas review Dom Smith’s Premiere League fandom and the early spring training games, before chatting about the 2021 Mets rotation with Baseball Prospectus’s Lucas Apostoleris. We also answer your correspondence, making some over/under bets and considering the Mets defense before wrapping things up with an AEW Revolution review. It’s like Jarrett never even left (he’ll be back next week).

Episode

Episode 269: "The 2021 Mets, a potentially nice team"

March 8th, 2021

It’s time for our biennial Andy Money appearance, and we chat Devils hockey, weird indy wrestling venues in the tri-state area, and yes even a little bit about the 2021 Mets. For more 2021 Mets content though, we have Thomas Henderson from Amazin’ Avenue to preview the outfield and make some just under the wire AEW Revolution mystery debut predictions.

Episode

March 1st, 2021

In Episode 268 of For All You Kids Out There, Jeffrey and Jarrett are joined by Allison McCague to preview the Mets infield. We propose extensions for several players, try to figure out what 2021 Pete Alonso will look like, and wonder how many at-bats Jonathan Villar will get. Then in the third half of the show we mostly preview AEW Revolution.

February 21st, 2021

In Episode 267 of For All You Kids Out There, Jeffrey and Jarrett do get to the Mets free agent and spring training news (such as it is) eventually, but start out with some Mariners-adjacent talk. We also answer your correspondence on prospects, no-longer prospects, and seeing 2021 prospects.

Episode

Episode 266: "Roses are red / Violets are neat / This show is too long / Just sign Yusmeiro Petit"

February 14th, 2021

In Episode 266 of For All You Kids Out There, Jeffrey and Jarrett look forward to the 2021 Mets season, such as it is. Who should replace Seth Lugo? (see title) Who will be the third basemen? Will they get into a bidding war for another pitcher? Does any of this matter since PECOTA thinks they are winning the division by ten games? Then in the third half of the show Jeffrey tries out a new cocktail while we answer your correspondence and discuss the 2020 Daves.
