Mike Matuella, RHP, Texas Rangers
FB 96-98 on Friday (3/9) and 97-100 on Monday (3/12) with significant plane, action, cut; future 80 offering. CB 82-84, a bit inconsistent but featured a pair of 6s and a 7 among fewer than a dozen throws, threw in and out of the strike zone, quality depth. CH 91-94, firm and has the look of a two-seamer, notable run, inconsistent pitch that flashed above average but was below average on aggregate, could project out to a legitimate third offering with proper development. Command was passable, especially for March, but nothing spectacular. Delivery was more downhill than previous reports indicated, allowing him to use 6-foot-8 size well. Injury history may lead to ultimate relief role where there is clear closer upside.
