Welcome to the first installment of Baseball Prospectus’ in-season, rotisserie-style valuations for American League and National League-only formats for 2017.

In the linked document below, you will find values through games of Wednesday, May 6 for:

  • American League Hitters
  • American League Pitchers
  • National League Hitters
  • National League Pitchers

The formulas used to derive these valuations are not based on this past year's statistical formulas but instead have been derived based on 2017 auction rosters for the CBS, LABR, and Tout Wars expert leagues.

One change from past editions of this feature is that each article will be a review of AL and NL-only earnings at the close of every month of the regular season. Today is May 5, but the earnings posted today are for games played through April 30. The purpose is not so much to offer an arbitrary snapshot but rather to look at how player earnings change month to month. The attached valuations are prorated, so you will see some ridiculous year-to-date projections. It is safe to assume that Eric Thames will not earn $60 in 5×5 NL-only in 2017.

The spreadsheets with complete valuations can be found here.
