I don't like to criticize the entity that makes my morning commute enjoyable, but I think I speak for the fans of 27 teams when I say that fanboy debate episodes like this were a fear of mine when the local sites sprouted up.

Do you feel as though it was a fanboy debate because Betts and Bogaerts were both portrayed too positively, or just because they're both Red Sox?

Honestly, I thought they were treated fairly. It was the overuse of the word "we," and the possessive feel. I just feel like I come to BP for baseball general knowledge. If I want to worry about the Red Sox or Yankees, I would go to ESPN. Too much crossover from the local sites to the main site could turn it into another ESPN. I will admit this is a slippery slope.

Thanks for clarifying. This is really the only BP Boston/main BP crossover I can think of to date, so hopefully in the long run you'll find that we tow the line pretty well.

I want to jump in and defend against the "we" slander here, so that people who don't listen to the episode won't be misled: The word "we" was used the same way that Ben and I and all writers use it: We, the observers of the game/player/team. "We will see if..." "we don't know yet..." and so on. There's no "we" in the way that fans use it to associate themselves with the team.
