With the 2012 baseball season finally upon us, it's time to announce BP's full slate of interactive events…designed to bring you, our fans and readers, closer to all the action.

Beginning on May 5, we launch our 2012 ballpark tour in St. Petersburg, Florida with the Tampa Bay Rays. From there, the tour continues with confirmed stops in San Diego, New York, Anaheim, Arlington, Minnesota, Kansas City, and Houston. We've partnered with Major League Baseball teams across the country and other great organizations like the Negro League Baseball Museum, The Newberg Report, The Royalman Report, and Royals Authority to bring you a fabulous experience every step of the way. Each event includes a one to two hour pregame discussion and Q & A session with members of Baseball Prospectus, special guests, and baseball operations representatives. Additional activities will be planned for All-Star Sunday in Kansas City.

With the exception of Kansas City, each pregame discussion will be followed by a regular season game in some of our nation's best ballparks. You'll get to take in a game, grab a beer, and talk baseball with your friends, colleagues and favorite BP personalities. It's an experience we promise you'll enjoy.

Dates and locations for all confirmed events are below. Some timetables, links, and guest appearances are still being finalized, but those details, along with information on how to purchase tickets, will be released soon. Be sure to check BaseballProspectus.com regularly for more announcements.

I guess Toronto fell by the wayside....

That's not at all true. I'm working to include as many venues as possible. Remember, the location has to work for the staff, the guests, and the baseball ops people. Plus, the price has to be reasonable for the fans.

You can add mine to the list of Names that would love to go to a T.O. stop

I really hope that you guys are able to swing a Toronto trip. I'd buy tickets on the first day they're available! We love our Jays here and it's a fun city. :)

I don't think the Target Field event was on the original SABR42 convention schedule. Is it now? Or are these separate and distinct entities?

Our event is in no way related to SABR42.

"With the exception of Kansas City, each pregame discussion will be followed by a regular season game in some of our nation's best ballparks."

I realize that's because the event is at the Negro Leagues Musuem, but on my first read I thought it was a shot at Kaufman Stadium. It's not new, but it's not that bad!

It's not a shot at all. There's no regular season game at the K that day. It's All-Star Sunday and tickets for that day's events were not easy to obtain.

We had an event at the K last year, and it was fantastic.

Are any BP'ers gonna be at the HOF induction this year? I'm driving up with a friend to see Barry Larkin go in. Maybe a big BP reader meetup on the big grass field?

We will post an entry on the blog here when tickets are available and also place an eyebrow advertisement at the top of the home page with links to the purchase pages.

Tickets for the May 5 (Tampa), May 12 (Oakland), and May 19 (San Diego) will go on sale this week.

Thanks!

It's absolutely awesome that you'll be doing KC at the Negro Leagues Museum. I hope that venue will be heavily showcased during All Star Week.

Added a few new guests such as A.J. Hinch of the Padres. Also provided additional links to the ticket purchasing pages for the Tampa, Oakland, and San Diego events.

Will we receive the $15 coupon via email or at the event? I'm moving to the Los Angeles area this summer but I'm not sure if I'll be there by the 16th, so I'm willing to take my chances spending the $27 if I still get the coupon.
joechris96
4/27
We actually email the coupons out two-three weeks after the event. The coupon will be good until December 31, 2013 so you have plenty of time to use it. Let me know if you have any other questions. You can always email me at jhamrahi at baseballprospectus.com

Excellent! In that case I think I'll take my chances and get a ticket for the Angels event.

Has the Minnesota event (June 30) been dropped?
joechris96
5/07
It turns out that the date we had confirmed was no longer possible due to the newly scheduled day-night doubleheader (as a result of an earlier rainout). It wiped out the potential for us to have a meeting and tours. So we canceled the event for now. We're looking at alternative dates.

Ok, this a stupid question but I have to ask as I can't seem to locate the info from the email I received; where are we supposed to meet up at the Oakland event? Any particular gate or entrance?
joechris96
5/08
We haven't sent the info out yet. It will go out tonight or tomorrow. That email you can't locate was your ticket confirmation. It would really help if you could try to find it and bring it with you. Thanks

I have the email located,it is already printed out, it was any info about where to meet from the email in question that I wasn't able to locate. Sorry for any confusion.

You guys have not been to Denver in a while. Please come next year.

Yeah, 2008 was the last time they were in Denver, at the Tattered Cover. Christina Kahrl, Dan Fox and I think Nate Silver were there.
