As we say farewell and wish Steven Goldman all the best in his new position, I'd like to announce that, effective immediately, Ben Lindbergh has been promoted to Managing Editor of Baseball Prospectus.

Ben is now "The Man" (or as we like to call him internally, "The Playa") and will be responsible for running our day-to-day editorial operations. We're thrilled that Ben has decided to accept this challenge, and we have big plans for Baseball Prospectus with Ben at the helm.

We're also excited to welcome John Erhardt back for his second tour of duty at Baseball Prospectus. Some of you may remember John from The Week in Quotes articles of the past decade. John has joined the editorial team and will work closely with Ben and our writers on preparing content for publication each day.

Finally, we have reached an agreement to bring on one more full-time writer and editor, but due to contractual obligations, that announcement will need to wait until the end of the week. I promise, you'll be as pleased and excited as I am to be able to see this individual's work on a regular basis.

For now, please join me in congratulating Ben on his promotion and welcoming John back to BP!

Thank you for reading

Said privately, but it's worth repeating... Great to hear this news, Ben. Also, great to have John back in the fold.

Well done, Ben. If there is any writer I know of with the chops and intellectual curiosity worthy of the position, it is Ben Lindbergh.

Congratulations Ben! My only hope is that your editing duties don't take up so much of your time that you won't get to write, because I do love reading your work.

Thank you. No, I won't be writing any less.

This Ghost of Christmas Past could not be happier to be followed by Ben Lindbergh. Time will show I was merely the opening act for the main event.

Eh, Ben's okay, I guess.

Just trying to mix things up a little bit.

Congrats Ben and John, very sad to see Steven go but it's fair to say the changes BP have made recently have all been great.

Good news on both counts (despite losing BP's resident historian). Had the pleasure of talking over sandwiches with John at a (pizza-less) Cleveland pizza feed a few years ago, and am happy to see him back in the fold..

Oh, wow, thanks. Was that the front-office event? Or one of the old Barnes & Noble ones where we'd go out afterwards to the place in Willoughby? I miss the Cleveland events; they were a lot of fun.

We announced on Twitter on Friday that Sam Miller will be joining us full time. We'll have a round-up of all the recent additions on the site soon.

Any plans for the return of the "This Week in Quotes" column with John Erhardt back in the fold? That was always one of my favorite features... even if only for the humorous category sub-headings...
