It's the end of the season and you know what that means. The narrative! It's easy to forget months down the road, but these last few days of the season always seem to be filled with two things: teams fighting for their playoff lives, and writers scrambling to form some sort of narrative out of it to make their jobs easier (particularly in the postseason awards category). Jacoby Ellsbury seems to be this year's big winner, a fact we'll see played out in the Tater Trot Tracker once or twice more before the game #162.

Let's get to the trots!

Home Run of the Day: Robert Andino, Baltimore Orioles – 15.94 seconds [video]
Sunday it was the home run that launched a thousand MVP votes for Ellsbury. Monday, however, it turned into the inside-the-park home run that erased a thousand MVP votes. Well, it was if you ask a few Boston sportswriters. Andino drove in three runs in the sixth inning on this inside-the-parker that came about due to Ellsbury nearly making a spectacular catch. Instead, Ellsbury hit the wall, dropped the ball, and let Andino come around for the insurance runs. Boston would lose the game, Tampa Bay would win theirs and, all of a sudden, the Rays and Red Sox were tied for the Wild Card spot. Which, somehow, affects Ellsbury's MVP case.

Slowest Trot: Delmon Young, Detroit Tigers – 25.86 seconds [video]
Young beat out Seattle's Justin Smoak (25.21 seconds) for this crown. The next slowest trot was Adrian Beltre's 24.03 second trot in Texas.

Quickest Trot: Robert Andino, Baltimore Orioles – 15.94 seconds [video]
To be honest, it wasn't a very quick inside-the-parker from Andino, but that can easily be chalked up to Andino believing the ball was caught by Ellsbury. San Diego's Will Venable had a quick trot of his own, rounding the bases in only 17.49 seconds on his otherwise very standard home run.
