There was no fooling around on Saturday, when 39 home runs were hit across the league. It was quite the welcome to the final month of the season.

Let's get to the trots!

Home Run of the Day: Tom Milone, Washington Nationals – 23.76 seconds [video]
The Brewers/Astros game down in Houston had quite the story, with catcher George Kottaras hitting for the cycle and Craig Counsell – Craig Counsell! – hitting his first home run of the season. But neither can hold a candle to Washington pitcher Tom Milone, who made his major league debut on Saturday. In his first at-bat, Milone hit a home run – on the very first pitch. It's a pretty rare occurrence regardless, but having it come from a pitcher makes it all the better.

Slowest Trot: Carlos Lee, Houston Astros – 25.89 seconds [video]
Yet another reason the Brewers/Astros game was interesting. Saturday night was Carlos Lee bobblehead night, which, of course, means he hit a home run. It's almost a rule. It is also a rule that, when Carlos Lee hits a home run, he will be the slowest trotter of the day.

Quickest Trot: Wil Venable, San Diego Padres – 17.68 seconds [video]
At least there was no shortage of quick trots on Saturday. San Diego's Venable earns the quickest trot of the day with his 17.68 second trot, but he wasn't the only 17-second trotter. Chicago Alejandro De Aza was a hair behind Venable at 17.9 seconds. Paul Goldschmidt of Arizona also came through with an 18.89 second trot.
