Primer

Notes

  • There’s a lot of homogeneity in the starting pitcher categories. It’s something that I picked up on while compiling the list of players, and it shines through especially in the three-star tier. The 3-3-3-3-3 is a very popular PECOTA projection.
  • I added Quality Starts in here since using Saves would be useless and some leagues are moving toward Quality Starts as a stat. It’s the most common alternative to Wins I’ve seen out there.
  • Jose Fernadez has a pretty extreme graph, as his solid peripherals will be produced in limited time. PECOTA thinks the counting stats will be less than stellar, and it’s a pretty wise prediction.
  • PECOTA still isn’t in on Corey Kluber, and the reasons for that are worth their own column.
  • Without further ado here is the graph:

And here is the stat breakdown:

Is Joel Peralta making the long-anticipated jump to the rotation?

In all seriousness, thanks for the work Mau

I'm not sure which is more stunning about the Kershaw graph:

a. the graph itself, or
b. that the QS isn't also maxed out.

That thing is borderline pornographic.

Looking at Hamels graph makes me irrationally angry towards Ruben Amaro J.R., and I am a Braves fan.
