UTK Quick Hit

by Will Carroll

No full-sized UTK today, but there’s a couple big closer injuries that I didn’t want to wait on:

Jason Isringhausen (40 DXL)

Isringhausen has torn the flexor tendon in his elbow, much like Tom Glavine, and is done for the season. He’s told teammates that he is unlikely to undergo another surgery and is likely calling it a career.

Billy Wagner (30 DXL)

Did someone say flexor tendon? Yeah, that’s the problem with Billy Wagner as well. The continued inflammation is going to keep him off the mound indefinitely, but the Mets think that with rest and treatment, they can get him back towards the end of the season. Sources say September 15th is the target date.

George Sherrill (20 DXL)

The O’s pushed Sherrill to the shelf with ‘rotator cuff inflammation.’ Given their place in the standings, they’ll be very conservative in returning Sherrill, though they do hope to have him back to let him go out with some success rather than on the DL after his breakout season.

I’ll be back tomorrow with full-length UTK.
