I got the chance to watch the Sox-Angels game as part of the TBS “Hot Corner” then went to see the Yanks-Indians with Joe Sheehan. Learned a lot in both instances. John Marzano and I had a nice discussion about how Curt Schilling has changed over the course of the season, one of the hardest things for a pitcher to do. (Schilling rightly credited John Farrell in his presser.)

While watching the Indians game, I noticed that Jake Westbrook started to “push” the ball as he tired, almost a cross between Tim Wakefield’s motion and the one that many pitching coaches call “dart throwing,” a pitching pejorative. I waited to go back and look at the video, but what I saw was right. Check out the highlights and you’ll see what I’m talking about.

I think it was Yogi Berra that said you can see a lot by looking. Given the way both games were managed, I’m wondering where they were looking at times.
