Jon “Boog” Sciambi had Buzz Bissinger on his radio show recently and … well, it didn’t go well. However, there was one thing in there that caught the ear of several BPers. Sciambi asked why Bissinger didn’t look up whether pitchers are younger or get less innings and … well, you listened to the link, right?
Jason Pare, one of the behind-the-scenes guys here, went to the Databeast and came back with this fine figure:
Average age of rookie pitchers, 1960-1994: 24.30
Average age of rookie pitchers, 1995-2007: 25.01
I don’t know about you, but I love facts. Sometimes I say things without looking them up and I usually end up sounding stupid. You can hear another interview with Bissinger on tomorrow’s edition of BP Radio.
