With many people wondering how Randy Johnson’s 43-year-old back will hold up this year, I got to wondering what other players are turning 43. Some of his similarly-aged bretheren have been out of the game for over a decade, like Mike Greenwell, Jose Lind, or Kal Daniels. Whens the last time you thought about Shane Mack or Scott Bankhead? Single-season saves record holder Bobby Thigpen is less than two months older than Big Unit, and hasn’t pitched in the majors since the ‘94 strike. It’s a testament to how great Johnson’s talents are, as well as how well he’s endured over the years, that he can still even be playing baseball at the highest levels at age 43.
