The tater trots for August 13: a bomb from Adam Dunn, a milestone for Nick Swisher, and Carlos Gomez, Brandon Barnes & Adam Rosales race home.

Apologies for the sporadic Tater Trot Tracker posts recently. It's something that happens in the long grind of the baseball season, I suppose. Maybe I should talk to Jose Canseco about better managing my time?

The tater trots for August 8, including an inside the parker from Eric Young Jr. and the first 2012 trot from Adam Rosales.

It's been a busy couple of days, and the trots didn't stop. Indeed, they only seemed to get better. Let's get right to them!

The tater trots for August 5: two slow trots in one game, Miguel Cabrera's walkoff, and an inside-the-parker from Friday,

Another weekend of baseball in the books. With the Olympics going on, Fox elected not to broadcast any games on Saturday. For those of us who aren't fans of national blackouts, this was a very nice surprise. Hopefully we'll get more Saturdays like that in the future. Also, it may be shocking to realize that there are now less than two months left in the season. When did August happen again?

The tater trots for August 2: Eddy Rodriguez makes a splash in his debut, Josh Rutledge continues his hot streak.

Sixteen home runs on Thursday. That's a far cry from the 42 that were hit just the day before. My tater trot tracking hand thanks you, major league sluggers.

The tater trots for July 24: Zack Greinke, Adam Dunn, and Chip Caray comments on Jose Reyes.

The way things are going right now, I'm a bit surprised someone hasn't been traded in the middle of their tater trot so far this week. Let's get right to the trots!

The tater trots for July 23 (and the weekend): Mike Napoli hits a bomb, Carlos Gonzalez takes a stroll, and Chase Utley edges out Josh Rutledge.

It's been a few days since the last Tater Trot Tracker post. And though I was able to time each trot over the weekend, I missed highlighting a few special home runs. The biggest homers of note came on Saturday, when Cole Hamels served up a home run to Matt Cain in the top of the third inning and then, in the bottom of the inning, Cain returned the favor to Hamels. It was the first time two starters had hit home runs in the same inning since 1990. Hamels, who had never hit a home run before, won the race between the two pitchers, besting Cain's 21.51 second trot with a 21.13 second trot of his own.

The tater trots for July 16: Ryan Howard gets on the board and Hanley Ramirez goes for an encore.

It's been a while since we've had a regular update of the Tater Trot Tracker, but that should be over now. Baseball is back in the everyday swing of things and so am I. Which is great because we don't want to risk missing any more 30-second or 13-second trots.

Cincinnati farmhand Billy Hamilton shows once-and-for-all just how fast he is.

If you've been paying attention to the minor leagues at all this summer, you probably know the name Billy Hamilton. A 21-year-old shortstop in the Reds system recently promoted from Bakersfield to Pensacola, Hamilton is known for one thing: speed. And I don't mean that in the way that, say, Tom Cruise is known for being crazy or Nigel Tufnel is known for going to eleven. No, Billy Hamilton is known for speed the same way Michael Jordan is known for basketball, Tiger Woods is known for golf, or Aquaman is known for the seas. Billy Hamilton is the new king of speed.

On Sunday, Hanley Ramirez became only the second (non-injured) player to take more than a half-minute to complete his tater trot.

Oh, the things you miss when you go on vacation...

The tater trots for June 26: Melk Man, Lopez and A-Rod tie it up, and Bourn's quick trot.

The Tater Trot Tracker has been out of a commission these last couple of days, as I enter this strange combination of preparing for a move and going on vacation. That means trot updates might be spotty over the next week or so. No need to worry, though. I am still tracking the times when I have a chance, so I'm mostly caught up. For example, I haven't tracked any times slower than Paul Maholm's 26.39 second trot on Saturday, or anything faster than today's speediest trot from Michael Bourn (though the 19.42 second trot from Peter Bourjos that was hampered by the runner in front of him was pretty impressive).

The tater trots for June 22: Chris Heisey and Scott Rolen give us two incredibly quick trots, plus a big home run for Mike Trout.

Time for the weekend! Let's get right to the trots.

The tater trots for June 20: John Buck tries to injure his way to the top of the list, Big Papi races him, and an inside-the-parker from Ryan Roberts.

In yesterday's post, I almost made a comment about the heat wave affecting so much of the country and how it didn't seem to be causing any more home runs. Boy, I should learn to keep my mental mouth shut. On Wednesday, when it seems the heat got worse for so many people, there were 42 home runs hit across the league. In three of the four early games—Braves at Yankees, Mariners at Diamondbacks, and Blue Jays at Brewers—there were a combined 22 home runs. The Marlins and Red Sox add six more in Boston.
