My wife and I drove from San Diego to Emeryville last weekend to make an appearance at the final stop on the BP2012 book tour. The event was a blast because, really, what beats hanging out with friends, talking about baseball? Watching a game, I suppose. Or playing. If we'd had people sign waivers, maybe we could have gotten a wiffle ball game going. But probably not.

I had prepared trivia questions in case we ran out of things to discuss. We didn't, but since I've already written the questions, here are their answers. They all have a Bay Area theme:

Will has a proposal for MLB and the MLBPA, and has some injury news on Cliff Floyd, Milton Bradley, Shannon Stewart, and others.

Give us one game. Designate one game (maybe on a Saturday) where each player gives up that game's pay, and have it deposited into a research fund overseen by an independent bureau. The same goes for the owners: they give up one game's gate receipts. Gross, not net. I haven't done the math to see how much it amounts to, but it's going to be much, much more than what's being done now. Add in a healthy dose of education and PSA's and it gets better. That money can help and the public relations could help more. All I'm asking is that Baseball takes this problem seriously for one game.
