No. And I'm a former White Sox fan/South Sider... I can't stand Hawk. Most of us can't/couldn't.
A bit late to the party....
Any word on: David Denson, 1B; South Hills HS, CA?
Kid hit a 515 HR in power showcase. I know that means very little, but nonetheless intrigued about his draft stock.
Man that is a pretty delivery.
Yes! Been eagerly awaiting these.
With 10 year forecasts back on the drawing board, is there an ETA or is it still TBA?
Hamilton might take a small hit in the SB efficiency department because it will be the Yadier Molina's of the world trying to gun him down, and not journeymen C in Double-A, but anyone that has seen Hamilton knows his technique needs refinement. He has legitimate baseball skills, so this isn't a Dee Gordon situation. The speed will allow the hit tool to play up, which may mitigate a bit of the bat's value lost from the lack of power.
The R and SB totals are going to win many a fantasy title (especially the later stat), but it's not as if he's going to be a replacement level guy at the MLB in real life either. He's going to provide a lot of dWWAR and bWAR on the basepaths and in center, respectively. It's not just SB on the basepaths either; it's going 1st to 3rd, and 1st to home on balls hit to the gaps (e.g. Mike Trout- that's not a comp).
It's likely a sign of how deep this system is, but I would love to see the BP team's thoughts on David Perez, Will Lamb, Yohander Mendez, and Matt West (I know he came back from TJS last year). Jason was quite high on them in his TFR articles.
While reading this list... it moved.... on more than one ocassion.
I was hoping for some mention of Trevor Bauer (maybe the Professor's mythical scouting report on him!), given that he was the headline photograph. Enjoyed the article still. My BP subscription was probably my best decision last year.
These are awesome. Full of #want.
Not to get off topic of the #rig or Oscar Taveras, but Are we ever going to get the promised report on Trevor Bauer (traded post-Indians Top 10, pre-D'Backs Top-Ten? Thanks.
I think it's more important they read Game of Thrones.
Best article ever.
Jason Bay FTW... On a typical Friday night I am: Out.
Also lol'd on the Hamilton Friday Night. #rig.
<--- ChiSox fan.
Not to defend the Jerryatric, but another crusty old Jerry was far more responsible for the breakup: Jerry Krause.
Is there going to be an iPad edition, or Kindle only?
Sorry for the double post. My browser froze up.
Have scouts been saying good things on Keenyn Walker, or is there still a lot of skepticism there? What about the ChiSox other 1st round toolsy OF, Jared Mitchell?
Up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A, B, A, select, start.
ROMNEY: WILL MIDDLEBROOKS IS PROOF THAT THE POOR CAN COMPETE WITH THE RICH!!. YAY CAPITALISM!!!!!!
Martinez's skillset sounds a lot like the skillsets of guys like Betances and Allie (with a much different size/frame).
Is he also the most likely of that trio to avoid a career in the 'pen?
A little bit of a shock not to see Victor Roache on this list, KG. Does his wrist injury have you/teams worried?
"What if the A's hahaha." I lol'd.
I love that #want is a recognized statistic. This is fantastic.
Sorry I went over your head with that one.
See Moore, Matt.
Do more scouts (that you have spoken with) see Betances as a SP or RP at this point? I see a lot of conflicting projections.
Is there a reason Bundy was pulled after 3 IP? Thought the goal was 4 IP yesterday and then 5 IP next time out; pitch count wasn't a factor was it (61 pitches thrown, 40 for strikes)?
Betances to the bullpen looks like it will come sooner rather than later.
I think it would be less offensive if they took the Cubs portion down.
I'd love some new notes on Yohander Mendez [I'm on TFR, so in addition to that]. Your report on him got me really excited.
That was excellent.
Second line of Odorizzi's write up could use some editing.
I think the plan for the 9th (which is by no means a guarantee given the combustibility of closers) is to go with Nathan for as long as health permits, with Adams as the primary set up man. In a few seasons they'll look internally to a prospect to become their "closer of the future. Early favorites would be Tanner Scheppers (long-ish shot), and Matt West (current favorite).
Did Tyler Bortnick garner any consideration for this list?
So where on the diamond does Bogaerts go in order of decreasing likelihood: RF, 3B, LF?
On the actual list however- i like it. I think you could make an argument for any ordering of Trout/Harper/Moore and I'd agree with it. Personally I'd go Trout/Harper/Moore, but that's just me.
I noticed a heavy representation of the 2011 draft class, which I would assume is indicative of how deep and talented that class was.
Overall I think the list is well balanced between projection/ceiling and floor players as well as those with pro ball experience and those who signed at the 2011 deadline/yet to make stateside debut.
Good deal, can't wait for the chat!
Slightly upset #101 wasn't listed as "#TheLegend."
Matt Adams: 6'3 230. Kind.
I'll second #3.
I'd love to see a BP piece just ripping Reinsdorf (and Selig) to shreds.
Kove has always liked watching.
I was born in Chicago and spent my formative years one the South & West sides of the city (though finished high school in the northern burbs and college in Indiana). I've been a Sox fan since I became a fan a baseball. I have never liked the Cubs. I'm not sure if there was anything specific about them that I disliked, though I was never a fan of the stadium. Today though i can say I cannot stand the love that gets poured on the team (even the 100+ year drought gets some sugar coating put on it), especially in the media. The Cubs have always been Chicago's first [baseball] team with the Sox as an afterthought, regardless of where either team is located in the rankings. I didn't notice it (care) much when I was a kid, but now as a media consumer, it's annoying. #RantOver.
It's not a matter of "being able to find" more than one Sox prospect worth mentioning, it's a simple fact. I'm a Sox fan and can tell you that our farm system is about as sexy as a 2012 Jim Thome's defense at shortstop.
If Dunn can bat north of the Mendoza line over a full season, Jerry Reinsdorf has promised to actually spend money—on a giant laser, located just above the press booth, that will target a 1-ton cauldron of popcorn kernels located in the bullpen.
His actual DOB is 30/5/1989. It's just a typo.
That Bourjos catch was un-freaking-real.
What are the chances they just cut Wells (or Abreu)? The logjam is more than just OF, but 1B/DH, with none of the legitimate trade pieces being "sexy."
Well, this is part of the Future Shock series.
Last year Rosario was a 5-star guy and Mesoraco was a 4-star guy. I'm guessing this year you will have flip-flopped those ratings. Is there much of a difference between them? Clearly Mesoraco has the polish and the better bat overall, but Rosario's power potential and arm rate higher?
Thoughts on Robertson being the heir-apparent in the Bronx? Obviously Rivera is an alien and the job is his as long as he wants it, but in a post-Mo baseball universe, the Yanks don't have a clear next-in-line guy. Soriano, Robertson, and Betances all strike me as likely candidates.
You can gather that from the video alone. Poor choice of words I my part. I meant, I'm uncertain as to why he's doing this. Is he being paid? Doing it out of the kindness of his heart? As a favor? Mentoring a younger athlete? It just seems odd for a guy who was a pro in a different sport to be doing.
I am still mystified about Ahman Green's role in all of this. In any case, he's been making this off the charts epic, as if the video wasn't great already with the quality editing.
Does Bauer have the arsenal to rack up 200 K seasons?
I know fantasy isn't your forte, but in that case, who would you rather have in a keeper league (paired with Strasburg, Moore, S. Miller, Pomeranz, Sale, and Feliz) (W, QS, ERA, WHIP, K)?
Mid-2013 Debut for Cole? Really? That would really surprise me when fellow first rounder (and UCLA teammate) Trevor Bauer is being discussed as potential breaking camp with Arizona's MLB affiliate. Is the polish/advancedness really that big, or did you mean Mid-2012 (for Arb concerns)?
I wonder how Professor would feel about Texas dealing #TheLegend.
Where do [roughly] Bundy and Machado rank in a Top 101?
That hypothetical AA/Colletti conversation was epic. To be a fly on the wall during that conversation... or the Wells-Napoli/Rivera one as well.
I was a bit disappointed there was no "You! You are still dangerous. [smiles] You can be my wingman any time," said in a dehydration (heat-stroke?) delirium at the Sonic.
Now that Bauer has some professional experience under his belt, has his ceiling gone up? His floor? Still an elite 2-3?
"If you watched the Futures Game earlier this month, you saw that Cosart had the second-best stuff in a prospect-laden game after Tampa Bay's Matt More..."
I think you meant Matt "Moore."
