He is a one pitch reliever. I can't imagine he was close at all.
Who would you have expected to see get the most. I thought it was obvious that Jones should get more votes and if it was a 5 way competition between them it seems like Jones would be far and away the best. He is still too aggressive but doesn't hurt himself in the way Stubbs/Upton/Young do. The real surprise was Rasmus even being on the list at all.
How bad does Ian Stewart have to be before it is accepted that he is just not a good ballplayer. He is the Andrew Miller of position players.
I don't believe he is competing for 1b with Pujos, pretty sure Pujos has that wrapped up. He is saying the fight is with Trumbo for Pujos day off ABs and both Trumbo and Abrue for the DH job.
I read it thinking it was Ervin Also
Any other team would have handled their side of this better. Just call the guy or his agent not tell everyone your against it. This isn't a Mets witch hunt they just real are that poorly run.
And I'm sure the Twins and their fans would love it if you gave them someone useful that could produce more than Greg Golson comps
I will go ahead and say McGwire was a horrendous fielder.
My old man as always maintained that steroids or not McGwire was so one dimensional he doesn't belong. Glad to see something like JAWS support it. People will get up in arms when you tell them something like that.
So are much cheaper options without a 2 or 3 year commitment
I have had Ramirez as a keeper for two years in a league now and with the lack of SS is is actually pretty valuable. Nothing huge but he provides in multiple categories. The thing is I would probably trade him for Castro given his youth and huge upside. Everyone wants to get down on Castro but seems to forget he led the league in hits at 21 and projects to hit for some more power. There are no SS so he has to be in the second tier with the best shot at jumping to the first tier.
More of a joke than anything really. I will always love Joyner.
When I was growing up Wally Joyner was my favorite player and I, to this day, have made the argument that at the very least he was the best 1b the Angels ever had. Thanks to Pujos a part of my childhood will now be destroyed right before my eyes.
I play in a QS league also and Stauffer was a huge boost. Even in a nonQS league that seems very low.
Could we get a Doug Fister write up please. I am in a deep league and he is right on the keeper bubble for me.
How bad does McLouth have to be show he shouldn't get a big league deal?
Outside of the Rays at the end Manny was only considered a cancer on bad teams. The Indians didn't call him a cancer when they where better than they had ever been before. The Red Sox had no complaints of his cancerous ways as he lead them in two different World Series winning years. The Dodgers had no complaints until there inability to spend money, due to Frank McCourt, limited there ability to improve. It seems unfair to isolate the bad years and throw away the years that he was unquestionably the best hitter on his team and most likely in all of baseball. So he is a narcissist most people that reach the heights he has have a lot of narcissism in them. Weather it's cute or not he has a unique skill set that many teams should and well take a chance on. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say he would be the 2 or 3 best hitter on the Giants right now.
He has Asperger syndrome.
What is with all the Wikipedia quoting. Anyone can put anything on there it isn't a legit source guys come on.
Stayed through the 6th. You must be a Dodgers fan.
I don't even think they belong in the same sentence.
Does the following slot change with ownership?
With closers i have always taken the idea of don't pay for saves. I will try and draft them later or pick up the unexpected guys early. Who would you say are real keepers as a closer.
Mike could we get a write up on Doug Fister? I'm going back and forth on him as a keeper and would love to hear your thoughts.
No but it is to trade for Gordon Beckham.
Because no one does
What is the leverage of the Cubs to make this even. They could just pull out but then they walk away with out the GM they wanted and egg all over there face. The Sox have all the power because they can sit back and ask for Castro and Jackson and see at what level the Cubs will give in. If they where on equal footing then they would have worked the deal out quickly.
Yes they are lots. Lets not act like Theo is this god of a GM all the sudden.
It's not Asdrubal didn't have the ability. The power was a surprise but he is a very good ball player and doesn't belong lumped with Melky. That said I like Kotchman for biggest surprise I though we might never see him again.
I love this idea!!
But how is getting Reyes the answer for the Braves. They seem to feel Pastornicky is the future at the postion. What they need to do with the money is find a right handed power bat hopefully LF and get Prado back to an everyday utility guy. Not spend 100mil on a fragile SS that does the same thing with the bat as Bourn.
This is the amazing stuff that make this site so great.
All the more reason why i feel so good about canceling ESPN insider and moving to BP full time. Thank you.
You would think if the glove can move to other positions he can be a utility/defensive replacement guy at least. Does anyone really see a way a no hit all glove 3B stays though?
How can you not have a huge wikipedia page when you have amazing accomplishments such as being placed on an all star ballet and warming up as a pitcher. Lets all enjoy watching Desmond Jennings rise and leave this guy to sell insurance.
They will bring Papi back on a one year he isn't leaving yet.
They should change the award to Offensive player of the year or something like that. It will end this debate and the pitcher winning MVP debate all in one stroke.
No one is making you read the piece. Your acting as if you are forced to take in material related to the Yankees against your will.
It's pretty hard to keep reading after the statement that Will Clark has a legitimate Hall of Fame case. Are we just letting everyone in now?
No one ripped the Beckham pick at the time. It has all been way after that the questions started to come. If he didn't go #1 he would have gone #2
