Branyan is 17th ALL-TIME(!) in at-bats per homer. Pretty amazing, really. Surely the Phils could stash him at Triple-A or even on the ML bench to back up third and first, where they figure to have little power. His PECOTA projections (TAV, at least) are better than Mayberry, Wigginton, Polanco, or anyone else they could run out there except Grandpa Jim, who can't presumably play very often.

Madson's the first thing I thought of, sorta ruining the cred. Seems the story should just be rewritten.

Funny that the last three guys on Buck's list are Royals stalwarts from the mid70s-early 80s. Buck caught all three of those guys when he was a KC backup for three or four years. Maybe he's taking a little slap at former teammate Darrell Porter? Or, less likely, John Wathan or Jamie Quirk, the other main catchers of the era? And you're right about Brando, EB. Couldna been a contendah.

Any idea why Musial gets dinged a few points for "Hustle"? Or why DiMaggio and Jackie Robinson get points off for "Fitness"? Are these just crank opinions, or do they reflect some kind of feeling at the time?
