"but I'd make Pittsburgh the very early frontrunners in that setup, assuming they don't make any further idiotic moves on the order of Pat Meares or Wil Cordero."
HAHA!! I love the wayback machine.
Seriously, very interesting article. I actually like most of the proposals here better then what is allegedly being proposed by MLB right now. The 7/8 team divisions concept works really well for me. (Although I would prefer no wildcards, but that bell sure can't be unrung...)
In 2008 Barry Bonds was 44
In 2008 Carlos Delgado was 36
I agree that some of the hatred of Bonds is over the top, but this is also a piece of it.
I'd be reluctant to pay $8-10 Million (I'm not believing that Bonds would play for the minimum) on a player who could fall off the cliff at any time. Combine that with him being a D-bag and the negative attention that it would bring, and I'd say you could make a case that it wasn't worth the hassle.
The talk in DC is the weekend of June 4-6 against the Reds, based on having starts that help the bottom line of our affiliates in Harrisburg and Syracuse
Many people are (understandably) frustrated with this, but in fairness the gang at BP are owning up to the issues and doing their darndest to resolve them.
Honestly, I haven't seen a lot of this at all. I've seen several comments claiming that everything is fine except for one or two things, while at the same time the numbers that are up are changing wildly.
I've got to say that I am extremely disappointed by their failure to be transparent about what is going on, and the fact that there is no chance that I can trust any of the numbers that they have right now, because they will change tomorrow.
I'm primarily here for fantasy (although I do enjoy the articles), and in that this year has been a pretty epic fail.
In the valuation section, your OWARP are messed up. Ryan Howard for example shows up at over 20 OWARP for 2009, 2010 and 2011. However, the total WARP in that section look reasonable (but aren\'t the sum of OWARP and DWARP).
