Is Gausman expected to get the call this season after super 2 status has gone by?

What about system similar to the Rockies, but bit more practical? A 4-man rotation with a hard 100 pitch count seems reasonable to me. The team would just have to have the discipline to NEVER allow the pitch count to hit 101 under any circumstance and carry an extra reliever.

I clearly should've used cntl+f prior to posting the comment, lol.

Has Matt Harvey's relative stock fallen or risen in the preceding 4 months?

Agreed. I'll go to war with this rotation. The bullpen needs serious upgrading. More worried about outfield production as well. I'd be VERY interested in Justin Upton for that (if the D-Backs are looking to make a change of scenery type trade) but it seems doubtful they could get him without giving up one of the big 2 pitching prospects.

4 years after the fact, PECOTA's 11 through 20 looks a hell of a lot stronger than Baseball America's. Nate was right, he was being far too harsh on his own system.

Epic failure by Matt on this article. Not only did the Rays come through for PECOTA's predictive powers, but the Cardinals went to the Super Bowl the same year. So much for the eternal truths of sports journalism.

So who I should be starting at 3rd base? Valencia or Omar Infante?

The real question is if you have the 1st pick, do you do with Hanley Ramirez entering his prime or Albert Pujols in a contract year?

Do you think the Cubs will look into giving Geovany Soto the "Victor Martinez plan" next season and have him start playing some games at 1b and sharing time at catcher? At this point it looks like his bat will get good enough to play anywhere on the field and if they think this shoulder thing is going to be chronic, they might as well do what they can do preserve him long term.

Has Tillman's stock fallen a lot this year? I noticed his strikeout rate is down to around 7 k/9 in Norfolk, and last year it was well over 9. What do you think this could be attributed to?

Great news. Congrats to you and congrats to the BBWAA for improving the accuracy of their future votes ever so slightly by having members of Baseball Prospectus as part of their group. Anyone think the breaking point was PECOTA\'s love for the Rays in the preseason and subsequent validation for that love?

Maddon\'s reasoning for starting Kazmir in game 2 makes no sense. If he is worried about having a rested bullpen in his starts, why wouldn\'t he start in game 1 when his bullpen has been resting for 3 days?
