BP Conversation - Pete Fornatale: Changing baseball is difficult. How difficult is something that Pete Fornatale and his co-authors, Larry Burke and BP's Jim Baker, take a look at in Change Up, their review of eight of the biggest changes in the game and, more importantly, how they occurred. This oral history is one of the most intriguing and original books of the year. Fornatale talks about the genesis and process of this new book in this latest BPR Conversation. BPR - Tom Allison: The Diamondbacks are young and good and seemingly getting better. In charge of keeping that happening is director of scouting Tom Allison, who takes some time between scouting two games to talk with Will Carroll. Allison discusses some of his more notable picks, like the recently-promoted Max Scherzer and last year's #1 pick Jarrod Parker, as well as the philosophy that the D'backs use in selecting and developing talent.

BPR Weekend: This week, the New York City Council passed a bill banning the use of metal bats in high school baseball games. Late last year, Will and Brad took a deeper look into the Wood vs. Metal bat debate. November 19: This week it's the best of Baseball Prospectus Radio from 2005. Will and Brad had some great guests this season and some of the best are back for this week's show. Steroids have ruled baseball for the last year, and BPR had it covered like no one else. Former major league pitcher Tom House made headlines last summer when he discussed his experimentation with steroids. Listen to what he had to say about it on BPR. Jim Bouton and Jim Lampley also discussed steroids as well as amphetamines in the game. Not many guests get a chance to join Will and Brad in studio, but that's exactly what Ray Knight did this summer. The former manager and '86 World Series MVP talks about the state of baseball and how we evaluate players today. The Atlanta Braves made it 14 straight division titles this season. Jonah Keri filled in on BPR this year and talked with Braves GM John Schuerholz about winning despite injuries and how the Braves continue to develop young talent. And finally, Will and Brad caught up with Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Zach Duke before he exploded on the major league scene. It's an interview you won't want to miss with one of baseball's brightest young stars. It's been a year in the making - it's the best of Baseball Prospectus Radio 2005!

July 23: Will and Brad aren't alone in studio this week as former Reds manager, Baseball Tonight analyst, and '86 World Series MVP Ray Knight sits in and talks about TV's role in today's game, the player/manager relationship, and details his recovery from a heart attack. Also on the show, Buck O'Neil. The Negro Leagues legend shares one of his best stories as only he can tell it and discusses his major league dreams as well. Plus, BP's Jay Jaffe breaks down why Rafael Palmeiro is a sure-fire Hall of Famer. It's not the swimsuit issue, but it sure looks good. It's Baseball Prospectus Radio.

In the interview that will have everyone talking, our national correspondent Graham Bensinger sits down with Pete Rose and asks the tough questions. You'll be surprised to hear Pete talk about his place in the game, who he watches, and what he thinks about his eligibility. We'll also hear from Mike Schmidt as he gives his side of the story on his friend's battle for reinstatement.

We also talk with Michael Lewis, best known as the author of Moneyball. Michael's new book Coach is out this week and tells the story of the man that changed his life and the changes in society and sport.
