BPR - Pitching Coaches: It's a double shot of pitching coaches on the latest edition of BP Radio. Up first, Brad Wochomurka talks with Stu Cliburn, pitching coach for the Triple-A Rochester Red Wings in the Twins organization. Cliburn has been instrumental in the success of the Twins young starting rotation. What's his secret in helping develop so many quality arms? Plus, hear Stu's thoughts on Francisco Liriano's return and Matt Garza's big season in Tampa. Then, David Laurila catches up with Mike Cather, pitching coach for the Double-A Portland Sea Dogs in the Red Sox organization. Cather discusses the decision to bring Clay Buchholz down to Portland, and also fills us in on 22-year old pitcher Michael Bowden, who made his major league debut with the Red Sox on Saturday. August 25 - Salter: Chuck Salter of Fast Company says that the most valuable player in sports is a former pole vaulter from LSU. That's because Dr. James Andrews has done more to win championships, ink big contracts, and keep Hall of Fame-caliber players on the field than anyone else. What makes Andrews the superstar surgeon? BPR - Hitting Coaches: BP Radio is back at the park as David Laurila catches up with a pair of first year hitting coaches. Up first is Jared Sandberg, nephew of former Cubs great Ryne Sandberg. After playing in the majors with Tampa Bay, Jared is now in his first year as the hitting coach for the Rays' short-season affiliate, the Hudson Valley Renegades. Joe McEwing wore many hats during his playing career. Now he can add hitting coach to his resume. McEwing discusses his role with the White Sox Triple-A affiliate, the Charlotte Knights. August 18 - Slusser: The A's have been without Eric Chavez for a while, but can he come back? Can Brad Ziegler continue to mystify opposing hitters? Is Billy Beane still running the team? BPR - Davy Knowles: The great thing about podcasting is the freedom. No time limits, no commercial breaks, and the ability to go in any direction. Will gets the chance to go completely off the reservation with this interview. He's made no secret about his love for Back Door Slam, a young power blues trio from the Isle of Man. Davy Knowles, their singer/guitarist, joins Will to talk about life on the road, opening for Lynyrd Skynyrd, and being compared to Eric Clapton. BPR - Athletics: BP Radio is back out at the ballpark, as David Laurila was in the visitors' clubhouse at Fenway Park on Sunday to talk some of the Oakland A's. His first guest is young left-hander Jerry Blevins, who has posted 0.66 ERA in 13 games since being recalled from Triple-A Sacramento on July 4th. Up next is long-time A's broadcaster Ray Fosse, who in his playing days won two World Series rings in Oakland while catching some of the best pitchers of the 1970s. Finally, David talks with to Justin Duchscherer, who in his first year as a starter has emerged as a candidate for the AL Cy Young Award with a record of 10-7 and a league-leading 2.33 ERA. November 19: This week it's the best of Baseball Prospectus Radio from 2005. Will and Brad had some great guests this season and some of the best are back for this week's show. Steroids have ruled baseball for the last year, and BPR had it covered like no one else. Former major league pitcher Tom House made headlines last summer when he discussed his experimentation with steroids. Listen to what he had to say about it on BPR.
