Huge frame; thick bottom half; pudgy top half but muscular. Max-effort delivery; uses every force of his body. Arm speed is plus; natural 3/4th arm slot; loose, easy arm action. Flies open and falls off to his left due to max effort.
Frederick Keys (High A, Orioles)
55; Late-innings Reliever
Great plane; late run with good life; loose command at higher velocity; shows ability to pound all corners of the plate; currently plus fastball; ability to tighten command and compact his delivery could pump fastball grade to plus-plus.
power secondary offering; tight spin and tilt; bread and butter; plus-plus and commands well; ability to throws for strikes; not afraid to throw in any count; able to double up on pitch and still fool hitters; control could see a tick improvement to reach full plus-plus potential.
The former fifth overall pick has revived his career somewhat after missing a large amount of time due to injury. Better health and conditioning has led to better results, and Hobgood looks much better now than he did in the past. While he is a reliever all the way, his arsenal consists of two potential plus-plus offerings that could easily work in the back end of a major league bullpen if he can tighten up the command. I have not seen the change up at all, which he used to throw as a starter.
