2007 The Twins thought they had something when Tiffee was an Eastern League All-Star in 2003, but he`s spent the last three seasons at Triple-A Rochester only filling in with the Twins here and there. His performance has degraded with each year, including a disturbing loss of power. Tiffee signed as a six-year free agent with the Orioles, where he`ll likely spend the year at Triple-A Norfolk and fill in with the Orioles here and there. It will be just like before, except the owner speaks Greek now. 2006 His career horizon has effectively disappeared with the decision to bring in Tony Batista. At best, he can hope to get a shot at some of the DH time that went to LeCroy in previous seasons, but he`ll be hard-pressed to be as useful at the plate. 2005 Last year, Tiffee lost time to a strained hamstring at mid-season, but he healed in time to make his debut, at which point he separated his shoulder. Even without being that ill-starred and a bit of a long shot, he can be taken seriously as a potential starter. Cuddyer should wind up with the job at third, but if Tiffee (or Eric Munson) has a great camp, Cuddyer could move to second. So Tiffee's competing with Rivas and Munson, and he offers more at the plate than one, more with the glove than the other. The organization has been encouraging Tiffee to be an aggressive hitter, and he's responded, but that only gives them a switch-hitting version of Ron Coomer.
