Despite a nice second look in the Carolina League, Sammons isn't a threat to McCann, but with gap power, a good catchers' body, and enough arm to throw out half of the runners who tried to steal against him last season, he's a credible contender for Brayan Pe?a's backup job.

Clint Sammons is a popular organizational soldier and a heads-up catch-and-throw guy; he might wind up getting Ken Huckaby-style service time someday.
